Slightly off topic question, but does anyone know how to remove the standard gearknob without making a mess of things and if it detaches from the gaitor, or do you have to change the gaitor too?

you need a proper knob to get on in life, to remove the auto knob you have to put in in neutral get above it get a good grip and pull sharply upwards, sometimes they remove easily other times you have to pullso hard you think youll never get it off. the knobis detachable from the gaiter, it should fit the e90.

I know some proper knobs who, annoyingly, have done very well in life ........regarding the car, when you pull it off make sure you don't smack yourself in the face! Have a look on the USA section for some funny stories regarding this.
