Tyre Repair Kit Compressor
Can the compressor that comes as part of the tyre gunk stuff be used to adjust tyre pressures or is it only for pumping in the sealant?

Think you can use it to top-up your tyres too.

You get in it a tube of get you home gunk. a compressor to take the tyre back up to pressure all the tools for removing/replacing valves etc. I used mine once. It would have worked perfectly had it not been for the fact that in my specific case the air was escaping through a hole in the wheel, and not in the tyre. Tyre weld can only do so much....

Depends upon the gunk, get water based and yes it could be reused.
I bought an unused Continental branded item from eBay and also top up tyres with it. Can be cleaned up and new gunk bottles purchased too. Was out of a Ford Galaxy and cost me about £25. Steve

If you have tyre weld and a compressor, do you not still need a jack to rotate the wheel so the hole is pointing down to the floor and also so it takes the weight of the tyre ?
Or do you simply squirt it in and then top up the tyre ?? |

i think all the threads on tyre repairs/ changing to non runflats should be merged! .... ;-)
would be handy for me next year when i make the change! anyone knows how much is the BMW one? and any other brands people use out there? which one is the best? ...and can the tyres be repaired after having used the sealant? |

I carry a couple of cans of tyre weld that I got out of Tesco for £7 and a Ring compressor that I got of ebay for £14. When I looked the cheapest I could find the BMW kit for was £80 second hand.
I should probably work out if I need anything else and how to do the repair.

There's a number of solutions. The eBay compressor & tyre weld is one of them, in fact I have a set from a late Zafira that does the same job and mounts nicely in one of the boot compartments. Another idea is a tyre plugger, which is a repair kit used by motorcyclists who also suffer the same problem of not having a spare tyre. I carry a £20 plugger kit under the pillion seat of my bike as it also comes with a one shot can of compressed gas, just enough to get you to an air line.

Here you go, the Zafira pump & tyre gunk courtesy of Vauxhall, Opel or General Motors, depending on where in the world you live
(plus a can of Holts for good measure).
