I'm not sure if the delay is true. Apple just announced today the dates for this year's WWDC and all the articles about it state that they are going to concentrate more on the new software coming out instead of the hardware. None of them state that it will only be software.

Yeah, Apple breaking their release schedule would really surprise me. Especailly with something as highly grossing as the iPhone.

I don't think it was a coincidence that Verizon is not going to be offering unlimited plans starting "mid-summer". I thought they lined it up with the new iPhone release, although they probably have about as much of a clue about the release as we do.

That is dumb to push the release date. The way Android is expanding, iPhone needs a refresh once a year. Not those stupid 3G-3GS but a whole new platform/body.

unlikely, maybe by Sept/Oct like some of the other rumors say, but I doubt apple will break their release cycle for their most important product

Makes sense to me I guess, if Apple plans on milking as many iPhone4 sales as possible while they scurry to get LTE implementation on line. IMO an end-of-year release for an LTE iPhone would make more sense than a June release of a phone that still isn't LTE capable (and IMO I don't think the next release of the iPhone will have LTE if it's in June but that's just MHO).

If I was Apple, and had a CDMA replacement in the wings for the iPhone4, I'd scrap it and eat the delay that would ensure the next iteration is LTE capable and this would allow for more extensive hardware overhaul as well. But that's just me.

Who knows.... Maybe we will see a NEW iPhone (read: not an "S") with LTE capability in June. It's possible. Apple could really surprise me but I'm not counting on it.

There have also been rumors since the release of the info that the iPhone would be coming to Verizon that the two carriers were going to have staggered release schedules. I still wouldn't count that notion out either.

this, I'm an android guy, but from a pure business perspective they have to keep that ball rolling. As soon as it stops is where Android will actually start to catch up and take over.

Taking as long as they did to get to Verizon I think was poor enough, but allowing the androids to have 2 years to catch up I think could be bad.

Regardless apple seems to got a full grasp on things so who knows.

Actually, 95% of people who buy iPhones probably have no idea what LTE is. So i really doubt it will hurt their sales :P

This is good news for me. I am tired of waiting for the new iphone and i wont risk waiting till june if it might not change. I will probably just get the iPhone 4 tomorrow..

Atrix is so much better than the iPhone 4. At least I think so, having owned both. Android is seriously pretty solid.

First, I agree, I have thought it was a bit crazy that Apple would release a new iPhone right after finally releasing the White one that is almost a year late. Then of course the iPhone 4 for Verizon just a few months ago. Thats going to piss a lot of people off who will have just gotten new devices.

The Atrix is a great phone on paper but because of the fact it's an early adopter of the dual core hardware, it's not able to live up to its real life potential, not for a bit anyway. Plus Motorola locks their bootloader which is a bitch. It's a great phone, I just wish it wasn't subject to AT&T price gouging (I mean seriously $500 for a crappy screen and a keyboard on that silly dock???).

There are plenty of stability issues with the Atrix in general though. So much so that many people who had the Atrix are going back to their Captivates or exchanging within the first 30 days to get the Inspire instead (solid, stable phone even though the hardware's not bleeding edge).

The Atrix, to me, is a good phone to have in your lineup, but not the greatest phone to own at this point. Personally, I'd wait until the LTE phones come out (later this year supposedly) provided you're in one of the first areas that AT&T is going to flip the switch on.

I have experienced zero stability issues and I really couldn't ask for a faster phone. The damn thing is practically instant on everything I do. No more waiting for crap to refresh and open. No more laggy app store. Internet is flawless and while I agree they haven't been able to fully unleash dual core, that is something that can come with time. Apps will start taking advantage of dual core and the Atrix will be ready. It was also run better on Gingerbread. There is no perfect phone, but the Atrix is in a different league.

I agree, the dock is stupid and overpriced.

They're gonna lose me too WP7 then. I have an iphone 3G, and thanks to software updates it's sloowwwww. I need to upgrade soon Plus, the office app on WP7 looks really good.


Although, I might just keep the iphone as purely a phone and get a blackberry playbook for everything else.
