Docked In The USA

A vessel loaded with the first 1M's pulled into Brunswick, GA, last night at 11:30.

Release onto delivery trucks on April 2.
Delivery into dealership cities 3 - 5 days later.

Vehicles into customer hands about two days later.
I'm good.

One car has been unloaded and is on US soil.
7 - 8 cars remain on the boat.

There are 53 cars "in production."
8 - 9 were shipped
The remainder are in "produced, not shipped," "in production" or "production not started' status.

The one on US soil is headed for Texas.

That is what the printouts say (I will get a firsthand look today or tomorrow), and what has been said by the SA and GM several times during the past six+ weeks.

That's the thing I have found the hardest to understand, but it's one thing the store has been certain about. We'll see ...

It sounds like those 7-8 cars are headed to the west coast. Do you have an estimate and when those will arrive?

No. The 53 are destined for four regions, but there wasn't a timetable mentioned. I'll ask when I see SA.

OK, so what your CA says is greater than what BMW says. According to my CA, there is no reason to believe that customers will get their cars before the release date.

Good to know that the BMW program data has been incorrect for several weeks. The delivery date specified for the GA delivery truck is obviously invalid.

Hmmmm ... I didn't say the people here were "greater" or better or anything like that.

I said that they are pretty darn certain. To the point that I am supposed to expect a vehicle pickup on a certain day. And that this is based upon hearing nothing to the contrary from anywhere in BMW. The store says it and BMW are anxious to get the cars into the customers quickly.

As I said, "we'll see."

But I also know that everything I have heard from my SA and GM has turned out to be 100% correct even though contradicted at every point by many posters here.

When did BMW ever say that? They didn't care how early the 135i and 128i got into their customers hands in 2008.

Yes, your CA and GM have been correct about the production schedule because it is on the computer they have in front of them. They are guessing about the delivery date.

My car arrives at Brunswick on April 6th. I asked the sales manager at Braman in Miami when I get it and he replied that he had asked the regional mgr. And hadn't received a reply. He said he would push delivery once the car was at the VPC.

IIRC, west coast cars are shipped on a vessel that heads straight from Europe through the Panama Canal and destined for Oxnard, CA--from there, they're trucked up the coast.

It has told the people here just that, about three - four times since February. An email request has not changed that.

The delivery pickup date is set - there is a two-day range in place.
The delivery to customer date can't be so definitely set. It is subject to the schedule of the transport truck (it's load and stops are unknown until pickup) and the physical capability of the dealer to finish its preparation. As of now it's in a range of April 8 - 10. This is no different than any delivery you or I or anyone else has experienced in purchasing a new BMW. (I assume you've had the experience.)

BMW is anxious to get cars into customers? I'd better ask for a bigger discount. How big is the 1m again?

You are the only person who believes that you will get the car before it's US release date.

The car may be at the dealer by then, but they won't let you take delivery until the official launch date. The same thing happened when the first 135's arrived in the US.
