CBeyond - Anyone have experience?

I am looking to make a change for my T1/PRI provider. My current provider is Paetec, which has fine service, but the cost is a good amount more than what competitors seem to be offering.

A consultant has given me quotes for CBeyond, Windstream, and STS (which is a small regional company that was just bought by Earthlink).

The consultant is really leaning towards CBeyond, but who knows what his motives are.

CBeyond seems to have some bad reviews online, but they have still managed pretty significant growth. They claim that they have made some changes recently to improve their customer service and sales quality, which seems to be what most of the complaints address.

I am not familiar enough with any of these companies to feel comfortable about making a decision without some personal recommendations. So if anyone has had experience with CBeyond or any of these companies, or have other recommendation, I'll greatly appreciate it.

YES I DO. when i used to do IT, the company i worked for was initially using cbeyond. i found them to be overpriced and complicated. i would consider another vendor. cbeyond gives a LOT of kickbacks to their consultants, which is probably why they're steering you to them.

thanks Blake. aside from price, and complication, was the service stable? Avoiding down time for phone and internet is most critical for me. They offer wireless backup of some sort in case the t1 ever goes down, which seems like a nice feature. I just don't want to be suckered into shitty service with a 24 month contract.
