FINALLY tinted the rear window dot-matrix without bubbling!!
UPDATE:
I've decided to remove the info posted here because of the attitude of the people that responded. I honestly found the response ridiculous. I spent every weekend for 3 months either tacking down tint or going to a tint shop to find a solution to a known problem. I carefully documented the problem and the solution, and after I paid well over $1000 to fix the problem and get you guys a discount deal and let you pay less than half what the research cost me I get dissed, called a shill, and people argue about how wrong it is to pay X amount for tint. Sorry but I'm not being paid to post this stuff, so I'm just taking this down and moving onto the million and one other things I need to worry about other than arguments. I just wanted to help some people out not discuss some off base stuff. UPDATE 2: I'm probably still either going to post another thread worded to (hopefully) keep people from arguing or post a video to teach tinters how to do it right.

No pictures?
What was his process aside from "heat"? You went through this life long journey to find the perfect tint and you don't explain about how you accomplished it? C'mon nah!!!!! This seem more like an advertisement for Kyle

Lol, what? Eliminating the matrix is just based on the precision and "skill" of the tinter; not on what brand the tint is (AKA I'm not sure why you put up a list), although I am curious what brand this "master tinter" used.
Oh, FWIW, the tinter I went to charged me $450 for 4 windows + rear, and it was perfect (I used Madico). No matrix in the back (he also used localized heat and had me take the car back after a week to sort out the matrix bubbles, which he did). The guy you went to charges $800 normally? Lol, no wonder celebs go to him; the most expensive is the best, right? |

The only guy on the East Coast that can do that, huh?
How much did he pay you for advertising in this thread? First you put up a whole list of tint that "won't work" and then you never tell us what the "best guy in the universe" used. I suspect his regular is $400, not $800 and the OP got it for $100. When did Richmond have a week of snow this season? Last edited by ceb; 04-01-2011 at 10:05 PM.. |

imo anything above $300 for tint is ridiculous my guy did my tint all around including windshield (with the dot-matrix very close to perfect) and he put the vinyl on my trim for $240 even.

heh... my rear window is perfect and I used the guy who's been doing tint for 30 years. He's also the same guy interviewed by NBC news trying to legalize tint in Illinois (and is on some window tinting board in Illinois) which finally succeeded. He charged me $250.
His trick? glue.

Sucks to see the response in this thread.
Your a helpful guy as far as I've seen and I've followed a couple of your posts where you find solutions for problems such as the e92 rear interior console lights, AE comparisons etc... Hope you keep being innovative and looking for solutions for those little things that just bug some people.
