donuts yes

drifting....no

you can try to put dsc/dtc off...but i would wager it takes a lot of skill to drift a 335xi...it may not even have enough power

might need a 911 turbo or nissan gt r with the right tires for that...four wheel drift is bloody hard

I dont think the 335XI can do a full scale drift, there is no LSD's and not enough power to make that happen. If you had a modded 335xi, with a rear LSD and a JB4.. 18" light wheels id put money on "maybe" lol

All this depends on your skill as a driver, not everyone can take a fast car and drive it sideways...without consequences.

In snow with the DSC/DTC off you can do donuts but have to know what you are doing to confuse the AWD system. I find the AWD doesn't kick in right away and majority of the power goes to the rear wheels on launch.

As far as drifting goes you can kick out the rear end in snow but its pretty much impossible otherwise (on a stock car). It also requires skill as Gavin said.

The car is a lot of fun to drive, enjoy it.. I also remember reading that you can take out a fuse that disables the AWD system but I never played around with that because the car is fun as-is.

I can drift in my 330xi....

It has to be wet out though.

I actually did this the other day when it was raining.....shhh.

You can also make our cars 2WD by pulling fuse 20 on an N52 and 26 on an N54/5. It will disable EBD, DSC, DTC, ABS, AWD, the steering angle sensor, the speedometer, the gas guage, and some other components though.

Our open diff will act like an LSD in a STRAIGHT line. Once you start turning, our wheels will rotate at different speeds.

And if you don't have a scan tool....don't try this because your car will store shadow faults.

You can do drifts and donuts in snow without turning DSC/DTC off. I've done it before and mine's a 328xi.

What exactly is drifting?

In my 335xi, I am absolutely about to perform a controlled skid around turns on dry pavement. Is this not normal?

My very basic definition of drifting is sliding the rear end out while keeping the front end gripped to the ground. You keep your front wheels in the direction you want to go and keep your back end sliding through the turn, in a controlled manner.

So is what I'm talking about normal for the xi? It seems as though both the front and back wheels are able to slide out a little, with the back sliding out more.
