English 101: College vs Collage.

Definition:

College: an institution of higher learning, especially one providing a general or liberal arts education rather than technical or professional training.

Collage: a technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs, theater tickets, and fragments of an envelope.

Usage:

College: My son graduated from high school this year and will start college soon.

Collage: That is one ugly fucking collage.

I have never heard anyone confuse collage/college before. At least from anyone old enough to go to college.
