Why Do Most Vendors Not Post Prices In Threads!!!???
Whats the reason for this? Every other forum ive been a part of, the vendors post prices.
Its annoying and a waste of everyones time having to constantly pm people for prices. |

the same way this drives some guys crazy nothing drives a vendor more crazy then the fact some of us have 50-75 threads in the vendor area selling products that say pm for pricing and guys will reply in the thread pm me a quote and expect an immediate reply, its next to impossible to keep track of all those threads especially since we're handcuffed now about how we used to bump them... competive pricing, manufacturers that won't allow posting of prices below map... lots goes into it!!

E90 vendors are regulated to advertise map prices. This ensures no one vendor has an edge over an other and keeps a level playing field. Now, once you call them they can give it to you for one penny over cost if they want but they cant advertise that price..
I was a vendor on G35driver.com, My350Z.com and MyG37.com To be honest its really hard to be a vendor and reply to the one billion pm's we usually get. Then the potential buyer just emails the next vendor on the list seeing how good of a deal they can get.

Exactly. Latley more and more of my inquiries are 'x shop can do it for y price, can you match that price?' If its cheaper go there...I have a business to run, cant make a living off of pennies. |

It's one thing to be regulated by the manufacturers in which products you're selling, it's another thing to be selling your own product or service and just not put the price to be competitive.
If the product/service is worth the price it'll sell. If not then adjust it accordingly. The rest of the world works like this with few exceptions. Other forums force it's members and vendors to post prices. |

Hey I dont mind if I have to wait or call for a price....Ive called for prices and had great conversations with some vendors on this forum and simply baught from them bc they spared time to discuss my concerns. Who cares, its bad enough most of us are nickel and diming vendors for good prices on "bootleg" copy wheels in the first place!!!! Deal with the PM's!
What I cant fucking stand in this forum is how somebody had a price for something or a service they got and then maybe a phone number or something, they say "pm me for details" or "pm me with offers" fuck that!!!! Stop using pm's to pass public helpful information on!!!! |

Most companies don't allow vendors to post any price other than MAP/MLP in order to keep competition at a minimum. The reason it says PM for price is that a lower price can be quoted without going against rules.

I understand that aspect of it but shops don't post what they charge for certain labor intensive work. And some vendors don't post prices when it's their brand of products they're selling. Wheel companies come to mind...not gonna post names tho

If the company is like VMR for example, they have to post their MSRP prices and ask their resellers to post MAP only. Why would they sink their own ship by posting the lowest possible #'s, then all of their resellers wouldnt get any business. Quote:
As far as shops doing labor, well thats a different story and has nothing to do with merchandise.

One that that a member above mentioned that annoys the carp out of me is these private FS threads where the sellers wants PM's on offers. That is absolutely ridiculous. If you are selling an item, put a price on it and see how it goes.

Ive been getting a lot of the same thing. Customers have to realize that there is a small margin that vendors have and that margin is part of what keeps the business going. Some vendors on here are full time shops with multiple employees and fixed costs while some are one person doing business out of mommy's basement for free. Those are the ones who can live off of dropping prices to the point where they only make a few percent on each deal. It comes down to if you respect what the company is about. If your looking to save 20$ and give it to someone who isnt really in the industry/business then thats fine but please keep in mind that vendors with brick and mortar shops arent pocketing that extra $$ but putting it into running the shops.

they also use it as a sales tool, they would much rather have you call the shop and jump on the phone with someone is sales, let them sell you the product

I like the way I sell things... Check for other items that have sold at a certain price, sell it at a fair price I am happy you are happy.
By the way, I have an iphone 4, Verizon for $450 shipped. LOL And I get the whole PM for pricing if the pricing is good. The extra time spent to save a little works for me and I would rather support the e90 vendors when possible. |
