What about the Silver beauty listed on here at the moment. Top spec M Sport for just £21,500. Thats a bargain.. Good low mileage examples are hard to find. Took me ages to find the right spec (for me) with manual gear box, 19" alloys, sun roof for summer and heated seats for winter with under 20K miles!!! Sat-nav was a no-no for me, simply prefer touch screen TomTom.

I made the mistake of selling my car first. Took me five weeks to find an AUC car through dealer network!!

Good luck.

Thats a shame because thats a very high spec car. You may have to consider an SE model, or a higher mileage lower spec M Sport model if its the later model with lower road tax band you are after

Check this one out. No sat-nav, but seems to good to be true at just £17K?

I have seen that one and it is very nice but i really want the Nav.I will just keep saving and get something a bit later on.Fortuantely i have money at the ready so I might be able to get a bargain somewhere if someone is in a hurry to sell.I do have another daily hack so i'm in no massive rush

cheers for keeping an eye out though, much appreciated

Ignore the replies saying you wont get one for your budget ,when you have a main agent selling for 17 then that tells you all you need to know about current prices, its 100% a buyers market what with fuel ,insurance ,economy, etc ,one thing i found on this site is numerous cars for sale with replies saying too cheap ,etc ,but yet to find many saying the magic word as a seller **********SOLD************

cheers Rickj,as i say i am in no hurry really and my budget is closer to 18k than 17 and as you say there are plenty of cars out there its just a case of getting the best car for the best price and if i am spending 18k of my hard earned i am going to be as picky as i can.Its just reassuring to know that if a car in my favoured spec comes up i have the cash in the bank to make a decent offer without having to wait to sell a car

the search goes on

Weird - the ad says it has i-drive. It doesn't. I'm similar to you - didn't want u-drive. Took ages to find one without it!

Meaningless TBH when there is a business with a bottom line to consider.
And the dealers sell a whole lot more small diseasals than big petrols so its not headline news for them.

The private market however, is far different.
As the OP demonstrates (and we have seen it on here a few times) people will pay good money for the right car.

What the advertised prices mean in the press? Nothing much.
Establishing what they sold for is more telling...

You can probably get a higher mileage 335i as an AUC at 18K with ease.
It's a big engine and under-stressed, and I drive around at similar rpm to my little diseasal most of the time.
Don't let the odometer put you off.

Have things realy changed much since I bought my 335i last Summer. All the good low mileage cars were selling like hot cakes. Certainly wasnt a buyers market back then. I struggled to find a mint black (or white) manual car with low mileage. Almost gave up. Was at the stage of ordering a new car when my two year old example turned up for £24K with just 11k miles!!

Yes there are always less mint, pre EfficientDynamics, high mileage, non AUC examples to be had for bargain prices. But thats not for me!!

yes ,ive bought ,sold a few cars over the years ,the market was booming a year or so back, but now people are worried about jobs ,household bills etc ,fuel ,insurance, costs have gone sky high, demand for 3.0 ltr .450 tax,20+mpg petrol cars have been hit hardest, yes you will always find somone looking but dont expect a rush of buyers, bca manchester had a 400+ prestige sports sale on sat and the big engined bmw audi struggled to hit reserves ,which goes to show all our cars are only worth what someone is willing to pay.I know a garage has a buisness to run which is why the above means any px offers or straight buys have fallen a fair bit over last 10.12 months

Can understand this with the earlier 06/07 335i Cars or M3 models, BUT the later 335i Coupes seem to be a different story. Road tax is only £260. And 30+ mpg, low insurance (£460. for me) Two yearly service.

Worth finding that little extra to get the right car. Realy pleased with my 335i M Sport. Will probably buy a new one in a year or so. Now this is when you DO lose lots of money during the first couple of years, but worth every penny, although you can pick up a mint low mileage DB9 for the same money Ummm!!

Dont you just love the recession when you can pick up a lovely DB9 or manual vantage for under £40k. Not a single 08 onwards 335i M Sport Coupe Manual on a nation wide search at the moment tho'

Have a look on ebay, pistonheads ,plenty of choice for all years there ,although some have been on for a few months now,

Ebay now has more cars for sale than autotrader ,probably due to price of adverts, pistonheads is growing daily and will be a major player to autotrader soon which is all good for the guys looking to sell, autotrader has been the default place to sell ,but this is changing now which is a good thing ,a bit of competition at last.i

The EfficientDynamics upgrade to the vert came more than a year after the Coupe. You will be looking at '09' plate onwards. Maybe consider a 330i. Will give you more choice, plus a little cheaper to buy and cheaper road tax from day one.

There is just a single 08 Efficient Dynamics 335i manual coupe on PistonHeads and again just the one on eBay, both over £20k, but check out PistonHeads, plenty of 330i Coupes/verts.
