Will US Cars be 2011 or 2012?
For some reason I was thinking that all of the US 1M Coupes were going to be 2012 cars, but I put in my production number and it shows as "On Order" and a 2011. Does anyone know with any certainty what the model-year will be?

Originally intended to be 2012 models, the new emission laws forced BMW to label them 2011 in order to use the n54 motor without facing any fees.

I think only the Canada models were originally described as 2012. BMWNA quickly amended that literature to indicate 2011.
We go over this a couple of times a month... the 1M will be MY2011 only for NA. |

I think the consensus is that it was an EPA/CAFE thing. The N54 is a less efficient/higher polluting engine than the N55, so there was no reason to call it a 2012 when calling it a 2011 would allow the car to be held to lower CAFE standards. (Any car produced up till December 31, 2011 can be labeled a MY 2011 for CAFE purposes.)
