Exclamation Vishnu Procede n55 dyno with prototype FMIC (360+WHP)

Hi guys,
Been a busy last few weeks. Today we tested the prototype FMIC we've developed for the n55. Tried a couple a couple different FMIC designs before settling on this one. It works the way we want it to and seems to be perfectly matched to the stock turbo. Better cooling but without excessive volume (no extra lag). And not excessively heavy (less of a heat sink). We plan to go into production with it after we get caught up with other things. No ETA yet. No pics to disclose. But the results were very promising. The Procede map was a slightly tweaked version of the 3-21 maps that are currently available for download. Tweaks involved small changes to the IAT compensations and ignition timing maps.

Car info:
N55 135 w/7DTC
91oct
Vishnu Procede v5
Vishnu DP
Vishnu Large charge pipe
Cat-back

Stock FMIC vs. Vishnu Proto FMIC:
Same dyno with nearly identical conditions
Boost setting at 15psi, IC at 50%

Below is a video of a 15psi run. You can watch the boost gauge on the dash (fuel gauge) during the run. It peaks just shy of 15psi in the midrange and falls to 10-11psi up top. Pretty low boost for 360+whp. The n55 is an excellent engine. Better than the n54 in many respects i'd say. And a properly matched FMIC upgrade was worth 20-30whp gains from 4200 to 6500rpm!

We also did a few runs at a lower peak boost setting (just 12psi). Lost quite a bit of low end/midrange torque. But only down 6-7hp peak. In fact, it made slightly more power way up top no doubt because IATs were slightly lower (from running less boost down low).

15psi peak vs. 12psi peak:

What is all this not working on the fuel system/meth kit nonsense?
Get back to the real work

Nice numbers though, and holy fan setup! that beats the asthmatic wimpy thing I had when I dyno'd!

those numbers look very good at 15psi.
have u taken'n it to the track with that setup?

i'm happy with the boost setting at 12psi - numbers look
great with the FMIC - shoot, but if settings at 15psi are
consistent on the track - i'm jezzing.

i'm dye'n over here waiting on a couple of tunes.
i have a fmic just sitting here ready to be slap'd on.
oh well, whenever you guys are ready.

Shiv I'm curious, the last Dyno you posted under the 15 PSI pulls you had something like 425 TQ, why did it drop after upgrading the charge pipe and FMIC although granted your HP numbers went up a bit?

The first cold runs always seem to have the highest torque numbers. But they are usually just short-term low end spikes. Pretty useless as far as performance goes. When actually conducting testing/comparions, I always use hot runs with just 2-3 minutes of cooldown between pulls. They don't always give the best numbers but they are far more realistic and stable.

Are these maps going to be available for download?

Did you go with a stepped core fmic?

Shiv, no thoughts on making a FMIC or DP's for the N54? I know Rob said the market is "flooded" but I know if you designed something people would buy it based because of your reputation rather then people making something simply for $$$$.

Shiv,
The N55 being in many ways better than the N54, any details?

I've read details on their head design and know that in stock form it has somewhat higher VE..what else?

Yes that's where the n55 seems to have a sizeable advantage. Power power at a lower boost pressure all things equal. Suggests that the head flows better (less boost accumulated at the manifold). There is also far less pumping loss during non-WOT conditions (no manifold vacuum) which means smoother engine performance. And you can feel it. Especially during transitions from partial to full load. I can't wait to see what this engine will do with an upgraded single turbo. Wouldn't be surprised if it made 450whp at just 15psi from GT30R or something comparable.
