Clear bra type protection from (or just outside) factory?

I would like to keep my car as mint as possible and plan on covering the front bumper, part of the hood, and the outside of the wheel wells with matte black vinyl when I get it here. But! What do I do to protect it in Germany other than drive 30 car lengths behind everyone? That would be pretty crappy to have rock chips in the paint before I get to protect it here.

Anywhere near the welt I can go have some type of protection applied? Maybe I'm getting worried for nothing?

Also any ideas of a pattern to apply the black vinyl that won't be too cheesy looking? I'm having a hard time picturing where to stop the vinyl...

I have a ton of extra vinyl after my e30 project. I didn't get very far because the vinyl peeled the old clear coat off when I was readjusting the vinyl but I got the trunk done and it looks awesome!

Are you planning on taking it off before you leave Germany? I don't think you can leave it on during the shipment back. (I'm sure you already realize this.) I understand your feelings on this though. I plan to do the same when I get the car back to the US. I'm just going to take my chances and hope for nothing to horrible.

That looks just like Pallet Wrap actually.
I'm going to call them to see how thick they are.

Didn't realize you need to remove whatever you apply before shipping, that means I won't be paying for anything fancy for shure. Actually painters tape might not be the worst idea...

I would be worried about the rear quarters as much as the front. By 10k miles they will be road rashed.

If the wrap easy to put on and remove, I guess installing and removing it twice for photos would be acceptable since the pieces are larger than the painter's tape which would probably take just as long.
