May 15 Delivery: MSRP + 5k...NICE!

Well..

As of today, my car is en route according to BMWUSA.COM and expected to arrived on May 15 in So Cal. Being the first into this dealership, I was informed yesterday by SA that Sales Manager wants 10k over MSRP. However, since I have bought 2 M3 in the passed 4 years, X5, and couple of my business associate referred to this dealership, the SM is being nice enough to drop asking price to MSRP + 5k.

How nice of him, ha!

As a business owner, M car will be apart of my company's fleet along with other SAV. I figure there will be a few more cars along the way for the next 30-40s year.

So...I am expected to pay 52-54+5k markup = 59k+TAX? ~ used '03 911 GT3??

I thought it was going to be an affordable M car. Maybe I am wrong. 50k+ car is not affordable by any margin.

My original thought was going to do a business lease for 3 years and pay it off. Once my son is able to drive in 6 years, he can start making payment to me if he wants the car.

Now..I am really having a second thought about this car....

Anybody want one @ 5k over?

This whole let's see how much we can charge for a 1M is ridiculous! Too bad dealers have so much control over the final price.

i would tell them to take their surcharge and shove it! This is a car that you ordered and spec'd? Are you kidding? If they are treating a returning, multiple purchase customer this way, wow what will they do to Johnny off the street? Amazing. I would be making my way to speak to the OWNER, not the sales manager.

What dealer in SoCal? (oops, just saw your reply in the other thread)
Mine is sitting at the VPC now waiting to be transported to the dealer, but not until closer to the release date of May 14th, mine was straight MSRP at South Bay BMW, in Torrance

That's what I told my dealer here in San Diego ( Harrloff BMW) years a go when they asked 10k over for E46 M3.That is insane.

Serious, can the dealer charge MSPR + 5K in the US? I would call BMW USA Headquarter and tell them the story.

In germany they can't do that.

Or in the uk luckily.......when I say luckily our list price is £40k (around 62k dollars) before options, and while you guys complain about high petrol prices we pay around 9 dollars per gallon!

Answered many times before, in the US the dealers (of any car brand) can charge any price they want when selling the car.

As for the original poster, why didn't you agree on a price (i.e. MSRP +/- some $) when you ordered the car?

Good point, when our CA called to tell us we got an allocation, I made sure to ask him if there would be a markup and if there was I would not buy it from him. I made sure to tell him that we bought cars from his dealership in the past and have referred many people to them and if they did mark it up I would never buy a car from them again. Not sure if that helped or if they were going to sell it at MSRP anyway, but I didn't want any surprises and he knew where we stood at the very beginning.

Yep. And then I kept the email that confirms the price.

At least us Americans in Germany can buy our Bimmers at MSP prices and not have to deal with Stateside dealers who like to rape you on price. I empathize with everyone of my fellow 1 Addicts in the States who have to put up with this BS from the dealers.

Regardless, that’s not the way to treat your customer who purchased several cars from you and referred you bunch of customers. IMO

That sucks

I know hownthat feels man.
Especially when u are the first to order it from them, even before they knew that a 1M was going to be produced.
Well,
They just lost a customer for life.
There are many better ways to spend the 5-10k markup.

Is it just me or does anyone think this guy is the one trying to profit and not the dealership? Seems fishy to me that the dealership would spring a $10,000 increase (~ 20%!) on a customer just about 3 weeks prior to delivery. I can see dealerships marking up beforehand with it being disclosed to potential buyers before the order but not after. I know the paperwork I signed cannot introduce the possibility of a price increase after the order. This guy is either an idiot or trying to make an idiot out of someone.

Same Story here. Dealer told me because it's "limited" and all their allocations were asked for. I could put a deposit and wait, but the deposit would be for MSRP+5k. I Laughed and told him he was nuts. I emailed Internet Sales at my other local dealer, they said they would be happy to sell me one at MSRP as soon as they get their allocations. The thing is there is people out there that will pay that premium for a car. Which makes the dealers think were all idiots, and or have money to burn.

So a April 2011 join date with 1 post, and you are already name calling the OP, hmm...do you work for the dealership???

Yes its just you. A dealer can do whatever they want before selling the car to the customer...unless u have something signed, you are at their mercy.

I have a production number, and the only thing i signed was my deposit paperwork. I have the email that they confirmed MSRP plus a couple other stuff.
