My take on the 1M at NYIAS
So I got to go to NYIAS today for the media sneak preview and immediately went straight to BMW to find the 1M.
As many people have said, the 1M is better in person than in pictures. The bodywork is awesome to look at, I found myself staring at the car taking it all in for several minutes. The flared fenders and track really make this car look super aggressive. The wide wheels and M treatments look great. I actually now am a fan of the dual exhaust on this car. Sitting inside, I actually liked the interior compared to what I have seen in pics. The gauge cluster is very distinctly an modern M cluster with the white backliting and light gray background. I'm digging the alcantara trim also. One thing of note, the seats were pretty much the same as my 135i. The shifter was also non-short shift but had a nicely weight M knob similar to the ZHP shift knob found in the e46s. The car at the show was the halogen headlight with manual hvac controls mule - maybe even the same car that paced the 24hr Daytona race 2 months earlier. One thing I noticed that the VIN began with WBS... - a true M car vin #. Onto some pics

Where do you see the mileage counter - the cluster was off and there was no key.

Sorry - no window sticker, just a little glass pillar with a small option list and MSRP. I'll be back tomorrow and I'll grab a pic for you if that helps.

Nice pics. The Seats are nothing special to look at but I find them super comfortable and adjustable in the 135. Would have been nice if BMW offered seat options like the beautiful perforated leather models used in the new 6 series coupe.

They didn't let us sit in the car at the Denver show. For anyone who did, did you notice the increased headroom without the sunroof?

It's odd that the car in Detroit had 275's on the rear while it seems all the show cars in the last month or so have 265's. Not a big deal....just something I've noticed.

It really depends on the lighting and in this under spot lighting very vibrant...and very striking in person, that's the best I could describe it. Its definitely not Sedona Red which I'm not that crazy about. If anything its a more vibrant hue of orange. I kept re-visiting the car because I really liked the color.
