M3 Steering Wheel & Steptronic

Will the M3 Steering wheel work with the steptronic paddles or do you have to upgrade to the DCT paddles?

To use the steptronic paddles you will have to modify the M3 wheel. You can buy the M3 paddles from Tischer and put them on the M3 wheel as well.

Any idea how elaborate the modifications are? I'm just not into dropping $500 on paddle shifters I could care less about.

I've done this modification, and the pockets are different. The M3 DCT's pockets are smaller than the SSG unit and pockets. As mentioned before, the M3's pockets need to be reshaped, carefully, to accept the steptonic paddles with a dermel and bit.

Ideally the DCT paddles works with the M3 steering wheel.

Here is some link to my process. Sorry pics are not in order.

Thumper, what was involved in upgrading your shifter to the 09+ version.

Just upgrade to the M-tech wheel. The steptronic shifters fit and it's as beefy as the M3. Did it to mine and love it.

You can go this route too, another consideration difference are the tr-stitch color on the M3 and perforated leather on the M-Tech.

Which one are you are referring to the modified paddle paddles or the modified shifter?

If it is the shifter, check: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=417142
