Northern Meet 4 - CANCELLED =o( Update on Page 4
Main meet is 16th July, no options to change!
Just had a great night out with Matt (RagingKileak) and discussed the next Northern Meet 4 Basic idea is meet in Richmond North Yorkshire, drive, eat, drive, eat, drink, stay, drive, eat, recover, home! All previous NMs have been fantastic, but we will need FIRM commitment before booking hotels, restaurants etc. Get names down now!

I'm in for sure and as Gav said, last night is a great indication of what is in store at the next NM. Good food, company and lots of strong continental lager before some spirits
The drive this time will be the most spectacular yet and I'm looking forward to it already. Matt |

Yeah, I'm with Tim on this, hopefully be OK to be there but wont relish the 2hr journey each way. The location will always suit some better than others but if Alan can make it then there's no excuse really (except his fuel bill will be a fraction that of mine ).
If anything, it'll be Saturday day-time for me . I'll watch how the itinary develops.

Well worth bearing mind Tim and Rog that a number of people will be there with the missus etc, so you could treat her to a night in the hotel and make it a nice weekend. Obviously I dunno how you're both fixed with kids etc, but both Gav and I will be staying over with the better halves, so WAGS are welcome. Hopefully Helen and Steve will come to, plus poss PJ's missus, so just something to consider.

Choosing a location to meet is always going to be a tricky one, particularly as 'the north' is such a vast and diverse area. Previous meets have been based in the North Yorkshire Moors, Dales and around Harrogate, with Bradford as the meeting point; this is primarily because as I have organised them it was easier for me to plan localish routes, hotels and restaurants. Now that Matt is on board we can share the work...and it's worth noting that a lot of time and effort goes into planning a successful meet. Route has to be planned and usually driven, lunch venue has to be booked, hotel, restaurant etc. etc.
When Matt and I discussed NM4, it would have been the easiest option to base it around Leeds/Bradford again, but we decided that we wanted to be a bit more adventurous and head for the upper reaches of North Yorkshire. This allows us to plan a route that takes in fantastic roads like the Buttertubs Pass as well as villages where we can stop for a drink/chat etc. The Northern Meets are as much about the social side of things as the driving. We like to make decent progress, without trying to outdo each other on the drive, (there was no point trying this when Tony came along to NM2 and Helen was in her Porsche Turbo!), but we also like to make regular stops for a chat, refreshment and photos. Regulars will attest the fact that it's a friendly gathering and Richmond as an evening base is a great little town, with a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Choosing a more northerly location also gives members in the North East an easier journey down and any who fancy joining us from Scotland. Sure it's a trek from the North West and South Yorkshire, but it will be worth it! A reminder of past meets: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=NM3 Pics below are the Buttertubs Pass, view across the moors and Richmond. Gav

Like I said, the location can't be on everyone's doorstep, it has to be as central as possible. I know what it's like organising these things so shouldn't really have mentioned it. I'll wait until the itinerary is posted to see how is best to slot in.
Those roads do look good though. Maybe Tim can bring me on a trailer to save fuel costs .

Sarah is quite keen to come, but while she tolerates the occasional spirited drive, the type of drive i had following your 135i with Helen's S5 chasing, she wouldn't enjoy at all... Gav, what a great area. I have many happy memories on those roads as my Grandma lived in Aysgarth, a village not too far from Leybrun and Richmond.

I reckon there is enough NW/Manc based E90post members for a War of the Roses type meet in due course, where the yorkies nip over the border and show them how to drive

Am very interested, but cannot commit at this stage due to unknown work/family commitments. Richmond is a great place, a true Tory Town which makes it even better (thanks William H ) and it is only a 70 mile trip for me.
