Anyone Ride?

Does anyone ride motorcycles? I just purchased one and am looking for others to ride with.

WARNING: I am a noob and will ride like a grandma for the next few weeks/months. Please be patient.

Frank- I know you have a motorcycle. Do you still ride? I know you are more experienced too. Any pointers?

Anyone else?

Thanks man! I need to get some more experience first and also grow some balls in order to make that "long" trek. Maybe towards the mi-end of summer, when I have more riding time in.

Yeah, takes some time to get comfortable, but go at your own pace. If you can find one or two people to ride local with, that helps alot. Everytime we have a first time rider join us, we usally ride one bike in front, firstimer in middle, and one bike behind. The roads here are scary to learn how to ride a bike, but this system has worked for us, and after a few rides they usally good to ride alone. What kind of bike did you get?

Yep. I still have my bike.
Congratulations on yours. what did you get?

Let's plan on going riding. There are nice back roads in MD we can go.
I suggest short rides to start.
Specially if you got a gsxr. your back will appreciate that.

I usually go on saturday or sunday mornings.

It's a 2002 Yamaha R6. I have been trolling R6forums and R6 messagenet for a while now, so I can appreciate the repect that this machine demands.

Dleo- you are absolutely right and I have all the intentions on taking it slow. I have two good buddies that have been riding for a few years now and they are very cool about going slow for/with me. I just feel bad sometimes since it's starting to get nice and I don't want to hold them back from letting loose. So I mostly tell them to go ahead and I'll stick to the smaller roads by myself for a while. I don't even bother trying to go with them to keep up.

Frank- I definitely will have to take you up on your offer soon. I can usually go on Saturday mornings, but Sunday (as usual) is no bueno for me. Do you usually go with others? Where do you usually ride?

Ahh, jap bikes!! lol

I learned on jap bikes, its great because they really not that expensive, but sooner or later you will see the light, and come to admire pro-street-chopper style. I couldnt stand being hunched over like i was strapped to a rocket with wheels, so i made the switch and never looked back! But a bike is a bike, ride safe, and dont worry what others will say about your riding skills as you learn. Everyone was once a first time rider and went through the same process.

R6... Nice!
Sat morning works for me usually.
I go riding with some friends from work or by myself.
usually, I go from Laurel to Bowie using 197 and then some back roads.
I also go from Laurel to Columbia using back roads. End up in New Hampshire ave. and go north towards frederick.

I might take the VFR out this sunday if not raining.
