Different Type of Racing for our 1Ms

I will be running the car in an event that is becoming popular in the US, the standing start 1 mile, usually held on airport runways.

I have run my MINI on the Bonneville Salt Flats in their 1 mile event but I like the airport courses better, no salt to clean off

I will run it first with the speed limiter in place to see if even kicks in in a mile, it takes some serious HP to break 150 in a standing start mile.

If the limiter comes into play I will get the DINAN Stage 1 tune to get rid of the limiter.

Anybody else interested in this type of event ?

I know Texas has the main event right?

Here's a really good article on the Standing Mile.

I'll run mine in various time trial events, including the annual Cannonball One Lap of America.

It will also be driven during "instructor sessions" at lots of drivers schools.

The event I attend is called the "Mojave Mile" at Mojave airport in Mojave, CA, about an hour North of LA. Held twice a year, an April 1 day event and a September 2 day event.

The same group that runs the "Texas Mile", runs this event also.

The fastest runs in April were a Suzuki Hayabusa at 228.8 on his first run and crashed at over 200 on his second, he was OK. Last year he ran 251. The fastest car was a twin turbo Ford GT at 226.4 driven by a woman, great job.

I would guess that we hit the limiter before we hit the mile. @Sea level or close to it, we trap 110+ in the 1/4 right? Obviously 0-110 comes on quicker than 110-160 but it doesn't take THAT long. I'm definitely interested now.

Well I have run my 2004 Corvette that Dynoed at 350 at the rear wheels and it would run about 150 in the mile. It ran 13.2 and 106 at the strip, plus it cuts through the air cleaner than the 1M, it is all about horse power and wind resistance at that speed, Aero is not that important in 1/4 mile at those speeds, just brute force.

Right, which is why it takes longer to go from 110-160. Just from my experience (with a juiceboxed 1er) that needle never slowed down. It pulls and pulls.

Are you going with Dinan for the warranty? I would think that the JB4 and Speed Delimiter would net a better gain. But then again, are these tunes compatible with the 1M at the moment?

For the warranty, as the one tech writer pointed out in this last issue of Roundel magazine, the worst situation he could think of was owning an N54 without a warranty.

Touche. Scary as it may be, we haven't had too many horror stories. Fingers crossed.

He was full of praise for the engine, but said "when it is good, it is great, but when it is bad, you will be walking home".
