very tempted as an alternative to 325D coupe not only on price but the looks is good.
Hoping to test drive one soon and will see, the 204Bhp diesel while only a 4cyl is very impressive and being 2100cc also helps in HMRC stakes. Just question if they ave resolved the early days injector / fuel pump issues

The 3.5 litre petrol is pretty impressive on stats too - 306HP (225kW) ala 35i; 164 g/km; combined mpg of 40.4; urban 29.4; extra-urban 50.4 (7 speed auto only though).
Oddly enough though it doesn't have frameless doors. Leather is extra as is metallic paint on all models - bit rubbish! Nav screen is small too at only 5.8". Looks nice in the metal though. Think it's officially out on 4 Jun. Last edited by G82Dude; 06-03-2011 at 05:42 AM.. |

I don't think so. It's the new C Class Coupe. I saw an ad in the paper the other day, it really caught my eye. Though all shots seem to be from the front quarter. Odds on the back end is a bit lardy.
And I'd direct you to the Mercedes website but it's a right dogs breakfast. |

Back looks rather good. Quite muscular. Nicer than E92 - they seemed to lose interest I always though when they got to the E92's rear!

not CLC the new C coupe
Did not realise about the framed doors which is a shame but then would make the interior quieter.

The picture above looks not bad but all the other images I have seen do make it look quite boring for a car that is new. The grill is too big and not very "sporty" looking and the lines along the side seem wrong. Looks to me like an afterthought. Haven't seen the interior which if it is similar to e coupe will probably be pretty good. Not sure what engine line up is going to be.

framed doors, no way! thats not a good look for a coupe, thats a tiny bit disapointing
how much cheaper is this targeted compared to the E coupe? |

Well after, I don't know how many BMWs, I bought an E320cdi Avantgarde Estate as I needed the load space and didn't fancy another 535d Sport Touring, nothing wrong with the 535d but I had already done that and fancied something different.
I actually bought an A6 3.2 V6 petrol A6 Quattro Avant and ran that for a while, but although it was pleasant enough and didn't offend I was looking at Autotrader after a month, managed to keep it nearly a year and decided I was bored silly. So had a go with the E320cdi, and have to say it is the best all round car I have ever owned, I simply adore it still, that is after a year and 40k miles. It was meant to be the family wagon, the car that we did 8-10k miles in, bought with 60k and sold on again in 3 or 4 years or just before it reached the 100k mark. Problem is I have loved it so much I keep using it myself for work, and so does Fiona, so it now has 95k on it and should really be sold. We bought an F11 520d Touring to replace the old mans 730d with, however, it is not lighting his fire at all, he has had it for 3 months and wants shot of it, so I had the chance to buy it for £29k, which is around £4-5k less than the same age and spec. cars out there, but after using it for a week I have realised something. It just doesn't come close to the Mercedes, so although it is an absolute bargain, I am going to pass it by, as by the end of the first few days I was grabbing the Merc keys and the 5 series was left on teh drive. There is nothing wrong with it, just that it is not exciting in any way shape or form, and no where near as comfy and refined as the Merc, the Mercedes feels really special in a way BMWs never do, however, BMWs didn't need to feel special, they were all about being dynamic and 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'. But this new breed seem to have lost that, they have been dumbed down and now don't seem to be one thing or another. So if I am not going to get the dynamics of a proper BMW I might as well get the comfort and 'feel special' factor from a Merc. So I would definitely consider looking at the new C Class, even in saloon and Estate form it is a great car now, facelifted recently btw. with a class leading interior (old one was terrible) and a very sporty drive while retaining comfort, and they are definitely more exclusive. It is funny, the E320cdi I bought was one of the last models, so got it at a good price, well, considering it was £40000 and I paid around £17k for it at 3 years old it was a lot of car for the money anyway and one of my cheapest purchases for years, but for some reason I have had more comments from people about the Merc than any other car, things like 'God you spend some money on motors', there is some sort of weird perception that a Merc is more expensive than the BMW or Audi??! My next car will be another E Class, probably an E350cdi Estate, but may buy a Seat Altea XL or something for family duties and get a nice E350 or E500 coupe. When trying to work out what to get next someone said to me, "if you could only own one car for the rest of your life what would it be, I'll buy it for you but you have to pay the running costs on it, and it will be your only ever car??????" My answer was "E350cdi Avantgarde Estate" I just couldn't see me living with any BMW for longer than a year or so, I am always onto the next thing, the Merc is the first car I have ever been in where I don't actually want to change it, just feel I should before I hit 100k miles in it. I know this is a BMW forum, but know most of you are just car lovers, and have to say that you should give this new breed of Mercs a serious look when your car shopping next, you might just be surprised. |

Good post gIzzE! Can't believe you still have that bus...
I know what you mean about BMW's though not sure about the Merc' "effect"....the amount of C class saloons I'm seeing these days they're getting a bit common....I'm happy to say that the Alpina gives me some of the "specialness" that seems to be missing from the current Beemers....imo...

You can't!!!
I very, very nearly called him the night before picking it up and saying I was pulling out because I honestly thought I would regret it after a few weeks, but I still adore it. It is now Brabus tuned, so around 270bhp and never does it feel lacking in anything. I bet I am still driving it in another 12 months. |

Ahhhh.
Just checked out some pictures. Looks much better than the hideous CLC. The only thing that would bother me are the stupid LED DRLs. I really don't like them. |
