Engine Malfuncion/Reduced Power Mode....just ONCE

This was odd today. I am on my THIRD HPFP in 15k miles, but this was odd. GUy runs a stop sign today, I jam on the brakes to avoid him, then my Engine Malfunction light comes on and it goes into reduced power mode. I got it home, pulled it in, turned it off, and started it back up again. No warning. I took it out again, no warning light. Went to a store, came back out, started up, no warning light.

Could this have just been a hard shift or something from jamming on the brakes? Car has been starting a bit slow the last few weeks, but I have never had the light come on like this and not come on again. Anyone have this happen??

I would say don't worry about it. If not, take it to the dealer - I bet you get a new Vanos control solenoid.
