335i VS M3

I happened to run into a beautiful convertible (E93) M3 on a back road with literally just us stopping at a light. It's a 3 lane road that is straight as an arrow and a 55mph zone, so an older gentlemen kind of gave me a friendly nod and when the light turned green, we both floored it off the line.

While the M3 sounded really mean, I was surprised that I was easily pulling on him all the way to 65-70. I was probably 1 1/2 to 2 lengths ahead when I let off and he continued to fly by.

There was another light about 1/2 down and I gave him a thumbs up. He yelled, "that's not stock!" I yelled back that it's tuned and he said "no wonder!"

This was in the Houston area yesterday, so if you're reading this, what's up guy!

Should I be surprised? I just have Dinan S2. Maybe he would have gotten me at higher speed, but I'm not one to drive too crazy. I know, "Cool story bro."

No surprise there, the E93 is a heavy pig; 4,145 lb.

I love my e93 (top down!), but the verts are definitely a trifle on the heavy side ("pig" is a little harsh, I think). And the numbers between the two stock engines aren't THAT far apart, particularly down low. And your car is tuned. So . . . I'm buying it.
