E92 pulls to right only under acceleration

Hi, I've got a 3.0TD 2007 E92.

When driving at 60mph on cruise the car tracks perfectly straight, but when I put the power down (402lbft torque) the car changes lane to the right. Ease off the power and it track perfectly straight again. It's done 74k miles.

I'm assuming this is a weak bush on left rear. Can anyone suggest which one to replace?

thanks

On the rear tyres, one has 2mm tread and the other has 6mm tread - could that make a difference? I've read on one forum that the 2mm tread won't get as much 'purchase' on the road and therefore the car pulls to one side. This maybe the case because it always seem to pull to the right worse on wet roads than dry roads.

Can anyone verify this?

The front 2 are brand new this month, but reluctant to replace an almost new rear just to match both rears at £310 ($503) each for OEM tyres - especially if I don't know for certain that this will fix it.

Torque steer. Common with the FWD diesel models.

FWD? You're on E90Post...

I would start by checking tire pressures too.

The tyre pressures are spot on, I check them regularly. Sounds like tyres are a favourite though, so I'll get both rears replaced and see how we go. I'll update afterwards.

I'm sorry but this seems painfully obvious...
OP has different diameter wheels in the back (thanks to one tire having 6mm of tread and the other only 2mm)
When OP steps on the gas, the weight of the car transfers to the back, causing the uneven wheel diameters to be pronounced.

Quick update guys; I replaced both rear tyres yesterday and the problem is now completely gone. Good result!!!

So yep, probably a combination of less grip on 2mm tyre and/or smaller wheel circumference. 4mm difference x2 = 8mm diameter difference x 3.14159 = 25mm or 1 inch difference per revolution.

That's very significant. Glad you got it fixed though!
