car jerks violently when let off throttle

so i have been having this problem for awhile, my car jerks pretty bad when i let off gas in low gears, it was embarrassing when i went through stop and go traffic with car jerking like crazy. jerking decrease as i went into high gears, but 1st and 2nd gear is just bad. i took it to dealer two weeks ago, at first i asked my SA if this is normal, he said no; then after i got my car back, and of course he told me they didn't find any jerking, and then he told me that this is somewhat normal if you let off gas, WTF?! every time i let off gas in 1st and 2nd, to give you an idea how badly it is, it jerks almost exactly like downshifting to 1st/2nd without rev matching at 30-40mph. so he is telling me this is normal?? no wonder why people prefer auto over manual then. i brought it in for brake squeaking, jerking and bad gear lever, they manage to fix none of the problem and return my car. anyway i am taking the car into dealer next week and also i have been search for possible cause, most people i asked thought i have bad engine/tranny mount, some suggested spark plugs or even slipping clutch. what do you guys think? appreciate for any input.

I assume you have a manual? not auto?
if you let go the gas in 1st or 2nd with the clutch engaged, thats normal, if you are in higher rpm range, if you let go the gas abruptly and without disengage the clutch, you will be jerking like crazy.

I think its just the 335i's gearing or something. I have the steptronic transmission and whenever I'm in Manual Mode in gear 1 or 2 this happens to me too. Anytime I'm coasting in 1 or 2, as soon I as let off the throttle, my car jerks violently -- enough for every passenger to notice. Weird.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how is DV related to jerking?

It's not.

OP, reset your adaptations and see if that helps.

I reset throttle adaptation before, it didn't help, thanks for the advice though

If you have a PROcede you can reset your transmission/brake adaptation too.

What ur describing let off the throttle and getting jerked could be related to the boost being dumped too suddenly from the OE valves..ur problem is so abstract it may be this or 10 other things...i threw this out as smthg to think about.

You made the same post back in early April...

Gears are short. They're going to jerk if you let off the gas quickly. Learn to modulate your gas pedal for a slower release.

Go test drive another 335i manual. I'm thinking you'll find that it'll be the same.

hmm....because i get pretty bad jerking even at light throttle, so i guess there isn't much/any boost when i let off throttle, hence not dv then? does this make sense?

does the jerikness happen just when shifting or if in the same gear and just pedal modulating?..the guy above has said that these cars will jerk a lil b/c of the "drive by wire" throttle system..if u r getting jerks when shifting esp on the 1-2 a modified CDV or CDV delete will def help

not shifting, just pedal modulating...i wouldn't think it will be a big deal if it jerks a little, as i said it jerks like downshifting into 2nd, dump the clutch without rev matching. have modified CDV installed and shifting is much smoother, but jerking when let off gas wouldn't go away

Couple of questions:

1. How long have you been driving stick?
2. At what rpm are you letting off the gas when you feel the car jerk?
