100 Octane... Wow!
I was bored, decided to get 100 Octane here in Pasadena. First I didn't feel anything, after 3 miles of driving Wow!@#$ I mean literally, Wow! Hop on the 134 Freeway *I know I should NOT be doing this* but I hit 140mph, I kid you not, my speedometer said 140 and my car is completely STOCK
There were times I'll accidentally step on the gas pedal while the car is in Cruise Control and the damn thing will move violently. Ohh the the price $8.99 but I had a blast! |

but what hes experiencing is i believe performance gains from no knock due to the high octane thus no timing pulled.

why the hell did I waste my money on a E92/335....To think I wanted some POWER!!!! jb4 ($400)....intake ($200).....DP ($500)....exhaust ($900)......cost of 328 with 100 octane and no mods BUT with 100 octane gas...PRICELESS.

the differnce in 100 octane and regular 95 or 97 we use here is quite noticable.. after i remapped the car i only use 100 octane.
i told some friends to try it and the felt the difference as well, car is definitely more responsive and accelerates better and smoother.. those who joke about it should try it ( and i dont know in the US but here in europe) the difference is noticeable.

I ran out of gas at the track so I fueled up with 102 (or 108, I forget) octane. (Actually, I only put in 10 gallons.) After a few laps, the car was so much more responsive. FWIW, I have a Cobb AP running in my car. I've never felt the car run so sweet in my life.

This. It's all about PHYSICS & CHEMISTRY regarding MECHANICS and EFFICIENCY. More Octance = Less detonation = a potential for greater mechanic efficiency (this is what you feel as enhanced performance.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane By adding more octane our cars can take greater, more advanced timings at greater RPM's and engine stress without the detrimental effects of detonation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knock) In other words your/my car WANTS to perform at it's potential, but lower octane fuels are more prone to detonation and an egine that is experiencing any degree of detonation will proportionatly experience a degree of decreased engine effeciency. All that said... "Octane does NOT equal power, but Octance DOES enable to the potential for greater mechanical action." (Ok, I've got to get back to work.) |

You want to run the lowest octane you can without knocking; I don't know about the 335, but if the car advances some timing you may benefit a little, but nowhere near a car that is tuned to take advantage of the higher octane.
