Tyre pressure
Interesting conversation from the Asia section. For 20" wheels, assuming OEM specs (245/35R20 and 285/30R20), what do you guys use for tyre pressure?
I don't think RFTs are available in 20" so I am going to further assume those stated in the user manual are non-rft pressures. So in the manual, for speed < 100MPH/160KPH, BMW recommends 35/36 for normal load, and same for full loads. For speed > 100MPH/160KPH, BMW recommends 35/36 for normal load, and as high as 41/47 for full loads! What do you guys use and what's your opinion about comfort and handling with your pressure levels? Assuming the wheels are correctly balanced, of course Comments appreciated!

I don't have 20. But I will speak for my stock 19". The manual suggests 38F/39R for normal load & speed, but I find these settings a bit harsh (given they are RF) and I decided to dial back to 36F/36R. After a couple of months of these settings, I really like them more than the factory settings as the ride is not as bouncy and harsh, given the roads condition I traveled on are acceptable without too many rough patches. The gas consumption is not noticeablely higher or lower than factory setting.
Perhaps, you can adjust yours away from factory spec and see for yourself. I would try to stay within 3-4 psi from factory spec. Trial & error adjustment. |

I know. Just trying to compile a list of pressures and feeling so that we can get a feel what the appropriate pressures are without everyone of us going thru the same routine of trial and error.....
I use 36/36 on my 20" (PZero Hero, non-rft) and seems fine. I don't have anywhere than allows we to go above 160km/h so the higher speed pressure levels probably will not do me any good.......

Can't even do that as all the possible roads for that are already covered until radar/camera
