335IS Blows away Fantasy Camp drivers.

Just got my June 27 Autoweek-

They have a Fantasy Drivers Camp, where guys like you and me get invited to test a series of cars on a host of merits-sponsored by ZF.

This months camp was pretty diverse with a host of Coupes...at the Ford proving grounds in Detroit.

Dodge Challenger 6.4L/470hp- $48K
Audi A5 2.0T/211hp - $42K (needed the S5)
Chevy Camaro 6.2L/420hp- $38K
Mustang Boss 5.0/444hp- $43K
Honda Accord 3.5L/270hp- $32K
Caddy CTS 3.6L/305hp- $50K
Inifiniti G37 IPL 3.7L/348hp- $50K
VW GTI 2.0T/200hp- $27K
Mercedes E350 3.5L 269hp- $59K
BMW 335IS 3.0L/320HP-$61K

The 335IS was hands down every drivers pick, in all categories.

Obviously if you narrow down your choices enough, you can say ANYTHING is the "best".
And he should've said "greatest coupe under $60k made by a German automaker that isn't Porsche".

I would love to have taken that Boss Mustang for a spin on the track. Did you drive those cars at the camp? If so, can you give me a camaro vs Mustang impression?

So according to this and if this is true then people should stop reading Autoweek. This is the most ridiculous comparison of coupes I have ever seen in my life. An Accord is a FWD grocery getter, the VW GTI isn't a coupe but instead a FWD hatchback. The challenger, camaro and mustang are american fastbacks in a completely different class. The A5 is seriously underpowered and the S5 should have been used. The comparison would make some sort of senses if only luxury coupes were compared and that only leaves the BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes and Caddy among which the BMW is by far the most expensive.

Great job autoweek... lol

It was a coupe under $50K original before options. The 1st FC the BMW M3 won, but I dont know what the parameters were. The Audi S5 was in that FC and came in second.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 335is, but the list is pretty terrible... not comparable at all imo.

I would think the Challenger would have been fun to drive. I have healthy respect for good old American muscle.

Frankly if the 335is was there, the S5 should have been considered, not the A5 2.0T.

The irony is the 335is wasn't even under $50K base price. It was like $51K base. So, they should have at least went with a non-IS 335. Yet, they throw in the A5 2.0T, but go with the expensive 335is which doesn't even meet the parameters of the "under $50K".
