07 335i coupe yay or nay?
Hey guys, i come from the 1 addicts forum. I have a 08 128i sport and love it. My wife has been nagging me about getting a 3 series coupe and i started searching. I started searching for a 07+ 328i and couldnt find any good deals under 25k, all had high mileage. However i came across a 07 335i coupe clean title with 34k miles for $24k. I think its a good deal what do yall think?
I need more information about the reliabilty and features that come with a 3 series. The only thing i hear is the HPFP issue with the turbo engines. Is this automatically replaced even if you are out of warranty or does it come out of your pocket? Is there a HOW-TO for the HPFP? Anything else i need to know feel free to post. I have not seen the car in person yet. Does 335i come with performance brakes, ect??

HPFP is covered for 10 years; it's just a matter of whether you want the hassle or not.
The reliability issue causes concern for many, hence the price |

BMW is sending out voluntary recalls for fuel pumps right now. They will check and change the injectors also

That's probably a base 335 for that mileage and price. A loaded version would be nearly $30k with those miles. Still a lot better than a 328.

No the heated mirrors are standard, but still a deal IMO. You have a 128 now, if you go to a 328 it will feel like a pig, bad HPFP not a concern, its warrantied by BMW for 100,000 miles due to the endless issues with them. But man a 335i is odes better than a 328. Performance wise no contest not even close. Get the 335i.

that is a good price. no that is one heck of a price for a 34K miles... no matter the option, it being a 335i coupe, 24K is almost unheard of in that price.
check the car fax carefully and see if you see anything suspicious. maintainence is the biggest thing on these cars. make sure you dont get a car with lots of problems in the past or even worse, a potential lemon. |

I got a CPO 07' 335i coupe Loaded except iDrive @ $32k two years ago. I have had 0 HPFP failures.
It's really hit or miss with HPFPs. I say go for it. The HPFP is covered to 120k miles I believe and there is a recall out. Plus its not really that big of a deal, dealerships have gotten used to hpfp repairs. They do them in less than a day lol. Haven't had issues at all and I run a JB+ @ 50% the whole time in hot weather. Squaky wheels/brakes during 0-20mph acceleration are the only let down. |

That is a very reasonable price, low mileage and a good set of options. Whoever said you can get a CPO car for this price though has no idea what they're talking about. That is not the case. Personally I would go for the car but get the BMW 100k extended warranty for which if you shop around you can get for $2100. Repairs on these cars are expensive and my service manager has even said he wouldn't own BMW out of warranty even with his discount on repairs. $2100 is more than worth it because if practically anything goes wrong you'll already meet or exceed that amount.
You'll probably miss options like comfort access and nav but besides that this seems like a nice deal.

I was in between an 08 135 at with paddle shifters and an 07 335 mt e90. The 3 seemed smoother, better built, and firmly planted in the corners. The 1 just didnt give quite as big of a smile as the 3 did but imo the 1 series looks wayy cooler than the 3. In the end my choice was clear but quite useless in your situation,
"Fo doors = mo hoes" (stole that from another member whom i dont remember) If the 135 woulda had a 6mt my decision might have been a little tougher though.

These posts are so tiresome--have you ever driven on a public road, and see a BMW with a badge that says "335i?" Was the vehicle moving over 40 mph? Believe it or not, there are 335i's that drive like normal cars.
You know, why bother to do any research. Just put up a poll on the web and have people whom you don't know answer, tally up the score, and make a 50k decision. |

Im gonna go take a look at it today. 90% chance i'll bring it home. I'll probably keep my 128 and trade in the wifes altima. I really HATE to get rid of my 128 and my wife hates my 128. I know there will be some fights here. She likes its cosmetics, and i'll love the power. We will see.
