XI Traction

Hey all,

Just wondering how often you guys break traction during "enthusiastic" driving and hard cornering? I tend to skid out for 2-3 seconds when I corner and was wondering if this is normal for the XI. I believe my tires still have a decent amount of tread (maybe 50%).

What kind of tires, and with DTC off? do you mean you are just understeering, or are you able to get the tail out?

DTC off (hold for 3-5 seconds). Continental Runflat tires. I don't think I'm understeering -- it is actually more the opposite (oversteering), as my car ends up turning sharper than anticipated. As far as getting the tail out goes, it feels like all four wheels drift, with the rears drifting slightly more than the front...

The xi system on our cars reaction time is very slow from what im used to. I think it was set up more for safety rather than performance handling. I am comparing this to nissan's atessa system and subaru's dccd.

I believe holding it down for this long turns off both DTC and DSC. Just need to press it once to turn off DTC only.

I think you're understeering and when you regain traction, you'll feel the car make a sharp turn.

I think its because you have a 335. That sounds pretty normal.

On a rainy day, I kick out the rear during U turns with the traction off.

On dry pavement, I find it a challenge to lose the slightest bit of traction in the rear.

Correct. atessa-ets is a fabulous system.

This happened to me once, but I didn't understeer. I took a nice bend with some throttle and the system thought I was understeering so it kicked out the rear end. I had to correct it or im pretty sure I would have would up back to front. It was moist that day.

wrong. manual on pp87 said by pressing dtc once will actually turn this system ON!
by default the dtc is off. and yes, long hold of dtc will turn both dtc and dsc OFF

Yeah on dry days my car won't let me slide around, same as wet and rainy day.

run flats do not give so when hard cornering you are doing everything with the suspension and bumpiness is kinda normal

It's all about the tires. The traction control doesnt mess around. It will cut power or activate EBC immediately.

Man I can break traction like crazy now in 1st gear, I may setup a camera and try a dry donut on JB4 Map 7

I did hit a roundabout yesterday and played around, the DSC is pretty slow and let me kick the back way out before it cut in. I'm not experienced enough to attempt it with DSC off as I'm sure I'd slide into the curb or something
