Racechip ECU Upgrade for 520D

Hi

Has anyone installed one of these Chips for Racechip? they have 2 models but basic one cost 129Euros so very cheap but gives 232PS from standard 184PS 27% increase.

Haven't got my car yet due 7th Sept F10 520d SE, but also wondered if you should let engine run in first?

looks to good to be true.

If it looks too good to be true it probably is. It's a diesel box - all of them fool the ECU into providing more fuel... Re the real increase in mileage, kW, HP and torque - most of these boxes don't reach their stated benefits - but you have to measure with a dyno for that.

Your logic sounds perfect ... however, do you know how these boxes (Spider Box and Chip Express in the UK) also claim to improve the fuel efficiency? If it is a simple case of supplying more fuel, then why do they make claims on their web sites (which include cited references) that fuel efficiency will also increase. The logic of "providing more fuel" seems juxtaposed to that of "improved efficiency".

If anyone has the technical input on this topic, I'd be keen to hear it. Thanks.
