Lapping day at Mosport - video and pics

Here's a mediocre video and some pics from a lapping day at Mosport International Raceway...

Found this on my FL after a little tire inspection/wheel cleaning <ouch!>

More to come!

I didn't do any timing myself, but thought I might try to get close using the video clips I have.

Here are a few pics we took at the end of the day...

Nice driving. Did you know when that damage happened to the tire? That's a big chunk of rubber missing!

But everyone wants to know...how many times did you experience limp mode?

Not sure when that happened. It was my front left, and there aren't many left hand turns out there. I'm thinking either the turtles in turn 9, or it happened during a transition from asphalt to concrete patch - the seams at Mosport are a little ugly these days.

Here's a vid of the same lap from another angle - still not very good, and the sound is awful, but what you gonna do?

Cool pic of all 3 colors next to each other, though not sure I am digging the one-sided ///M colored kidney 'ribs' on the VO.

I'm thinking that chunk is from some debris, possibly metal cutting it. I've had some bad luck with cut tires and this reminds me of a tire I recently destroyed mid-enduro from running over something that came from another car. From the sound of the howling tires I'm guessing you turned the computers off?

FYI, the fact that there are few left's is exactly why the Front Left took the beating that it did. when you turn right at speed, the front left ( and the rear left much less) take most of the load, hence the scalloping, and the scaring on the side wall. Im guessing that tire could have used a little more air pressure.

During the video there is only 4 lefts.only 1 is a sweeper, the other 3 are just simple turns.

Although there is a sharp edge in the chunk indicating a cut of some sort, i think that it overheated more than it got cut..

Just my .02 I enjoy playing forensic scientist :L)

Nice Ride.. Nice Vid... add envy here

I guess we'll never know what bit it - oh well.

First session out, I left the traction control full on for about 5-6 laps and I could not get any power down out of the corners. Switched to MDM which made the car waaaaayyy more drivable. Last session of the day, which the YouTube lap was from, I tried turning all the babysitting off - good fun!

I think it's a good challenge to run laps in MDM and see if you can go all the way round without the light blinking at you - then you know you're smooth.

@magha - we'll be sure to let you know when we make it out again, though I think my only other outing this year will be Watkins Glen in September.
