Absolute POWER! Performance through Greater Efficiency. M6 Gran Coupe Gets 580BHP

Absolute POWER! Performance through Greater Efficiency

Absolute POWER!

Performance through Greater Efficiency...

BMW's first foray into mid-size Coupe-Sedan territory means business as it lays it's armoury at the competition.

Tri-Turbo Diesel

Following on from an LCi of the BMW X6 in March 2012 @ Geneva. The new BMW 6er Gran Coupe will receive the all new and much discussed Tri-Turbo diesel which will be found in the BMW X6xDrive50d with 354PS.

With the Gran Coupe debuting immediately after in 2012 - Two years on from it's concept the engine will be offered in the BMW 6-series Gran Coupe 50d and 50d M-Sport. Both with optional xDrive. And also the BMW 750d. It will then throughout 2012 emerge in the 6-series Coupe, 5-series Sedan/Touring/Gran Turismo and of course the X5.

M6 Gran Coupe

To extend the M6 Gran Coupe further from the M5 which was always BMW's High performance four door. The new BMW M6 Gran Coupe will spearhead more power taking the power of the engine to 580BHP through the 7 Speed M-DCT.

Originally intended but dialed back for the M5 due to the conception of the Gran Coupe , Gran Coupe will be the flagship M model. BMW M6 Gran Coupe will also bring some performance related technology such as Carbon Ceramic brake discs and exclusive wheel options.

M6 Gran Coupe will also identify a unique approach to performance inspired luxury in conjunction with the BMW Individual department. Including exclusive Carbon Trim, and Uniquely trimmed individual sports seats with two tone trim. To enhance the new 4dr Coupe's sporting 4 passenger interior that continues the overall sportiness of the 6er interior but extends the design further onto the rear doors and through the rear passenger compartment.

Here we go BMW always chasing Mercedes Benz. Totally going after the CLS 63 AMG. It's too bad BMW lacks the vision.

Although I must say the new CLS is a disappointment. Mercedes wrecked a great design. This M6 Grand Coupe looks promising.

I like power! This will likely be at least 110k-115k though.

I doubt it, Most likely the M6 coupe and convertible will share the same bloodline as the M5. This will be in it's own class.

I would love if this car was a bentley flying spur competitor. If so, I'd be so happy

Even older douchebags need a fast four door saloon. Presenting, the M6 Gran Coupe.

IMHO, you are crazy. Have you seen the new CLS in person? Absolutely outstanding.

+1 CLS and CL AMG both look ominous and I would hate to see it in my rear view mirror.

I am sure this new m6 gc will be a great car but I am tired of how big and heavy they are getting. Why does M make their largest and heaviest car the flagship to represent the brand and not something like the M5 or M3?

why would bmw not reuse the same engine as the f10 m5? why pour R&D into two separate engines?

i don't buy it.

I drove the new CLS in an event in Florida and let me tell you that it has some decent aggressive looks (I personally think MB AMG's is like an old fat man wearing sports gear) but… it seems to me that they are just dragsters to go straight and win the race and not truly sports cars. I think the C-AMG is a better fit to talk about performance… but starting with the point of the extremely luxury interior, overloaded with technology (useless for real drivers) I think is the other way around. MB is chasing BMW on its approach. It was BMW who invented the Sport Sedan and just in the last few years MB came up with the AMG packages to "dress" its poor developed non-AMG cars…

But, allow me to finish with a peaceful disclaimer to do not start "one more MB-BMW war here) Everything in life is all about perspective and taste. We all do not love big blondes. :-)

I like mid-size BMW Brunettes.

Why make the grand coupe the flagship of M cars? The M5 has been a great flagship M sedan. Then they roll out a 580 HP motor!
