Need some help: Navigation with iPhone
Hello. New here.
Just got my order confirmation with BMW on the 1M, but having trouble deciding if I need the Navigation system. Where I'm at, you cannot order the Navi with the bluetooth or even the USB attachment with the car from the factory. Seeing that I'm a nerd, and I like to listen to music from my iPhone and perhaps do handsfree with it, wondering if it is possible to retrofit the required items. And do I really need the Navigation system to do it? I've been searching on Schmiedmann for a while, and no luck. If I can retrofit the USB iPod interface + Bluetooth, that would be awesome. And if I can do it without having to order the Navigation system, that would be even better! Thanks! |

The 2008 135 was able to retrofit bluetooth, you can search the 135 DIY forum and find a thread on it. I know at some point the retrofit wasnt possible or as easy as it was on the 2008 but not sure if that began in 09 or 2010.
I have the same question on the M, I would like BT but I do not want to have BMW assist |

curious about this as well.. Paying $750 for bluetooth via BMW Assist and $400 for ipod/usb as well. In the US though, we are able to pay for the two separately without NAV, but if I could retrofit these for less than $1150 that would be desired

Hmmm...yeah, I have a little dilemma that I have to decide by Friday whether or not to tick the navigation box. It's really bloody expensive, and I don't want to get it just for the GPS.
