BMW "Coathanger" accessory

I just purchased the BMW "coathanger accessory". It attaches to the drivers' seat headrest, and is very handy if you (like me) wear a suit jacket every day. Yeah, I know, I could just keep using the "coat hanger hanging from the grab bar" for free..but this was only $50.00, and I'll use it most every day. I no longer have to put up with fishing the coat hanger out of the back seat (where ever I threw it) or listening to it tap tap tap on the glass when it swings around. Here's some pics of the ridiculously easy install, and finished product. It can be easily removed if it gets in a passenger's way.

I bought the same hanger when I got my car and it has worked very well to date.

I was just looking at one of these. Definitely looks like a quality product, glad to hear it actually works well. I'm just a bit hesitant to spend $50 on a coat hanger...

Don't you have the little hook that folds down from the headliner in the rear seat? I use that to hang my jacket and it works fine.

All you have to do to avoid the tap tap, is when your coat is not there, put the friggin hanger on the floor. But I agree it is a cleaner solution that you got, until you have another 3 passengers and someone starts bitching about it. Think going to lunch with colleagues.

If you wear a suit to work everyday then spending $50 probably won't break the bank...

I'm a suit and used one of these for several years (but BMW only charged $30 back then). I eventually had to take it out because my kids wouldn't stop grabbing it like handlebars. The top kept popping off. Kids ruin everything.

Why is that part around the AC controls cream beige instead of black?

I think it's an elegant touch in an elegant car. The hanger part is removable (simply lift it up and off the base). I'll remove the hanger if I carry passengers... Fortunately, I don't have kids, but I did consider, "what if someone did grab it and use it for an assist bar?" If they break it, I'll just beat 'em with the rest of it and tell them to buy me a new hanger accessory.

I got a $30 Gift Card to the Boutique when I bought my 335i in March. I think I will buy one of these...I am in and out of my car with my suit jacket and I just throw it across the back seat.....

Can't you just take the bus to work instead of driving a BMW?

I've had this "mod" even before my bimmer. Used in my G35 before. It is pretty universal and if you wear quality suits $50 is cheap compared to a new one or regular pressing.

Sharper Image used to carry a chrome one that was more modern looking if anyone wants an alternative. I'm sure it can still be found.

I think it was a thing with 2006 models. I found this thread (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=550117) and this picture of a 06 E90 was in there:
