Arrived Today

Collected her this morning, after ordering back in March. Had an early start having to catch the train into Canterbury and got caught up with all the golf fans heading to Kent for the open!

Drive home wasn't any better either. Was pissing down all the way back and the sheer traffic because of the open meant that it was a slow journey back.

On the whole, very happy. I havent been out in her today but wait for the weather tomorrow. Need to get myself acquainted with some of the functions and features as this is my first BMW. Having it detailed on Tuesday so will post more pics thereafter.

For now:-

Thanks Dave. Have to say on the way home i achieved 33.2 MPG.
Was a little upset that the car was so clean when i collected, and following my return home it was a filthy!

Not the best on a brand new car, but hey!

Smile

Congrats, how did you achieve 33 mpg? When I picked mine up yesterday (had to take it out for a spin), the car BC was showing 13.3 l/100 , same figures as on a M3.

What happened to the turbo being more efficient rule? Anyhoo, awsome car eh, I see that it will be a problem being so limited production and all and how fun it is to drive. What a pita

Cheers

In all honesty FJS I have no idea. The counter was reset as part of the handover demo. My journey back was, where possible, around 50-60mph dual carriage and motorway.

I have to say however this car does draw lots of attention!

It's a brand new showroom. It was undergoing refurb when I placed the order so it was nice to be in such surroundings when it came to collecting! But yes, she had her own little area! Nice touch.

Wow that looks absolutely fantastic!! All these threads about people collecting their cars (especially UK cars), but it does make the wait for mine seem even longer

So you say it draws a lot of attention, what sort of things have you experienced? I keep reading a lot about this from other owners on here and also the motoring press.

Who are you having detailing the car as well? I've already spoken to my friendly detailing chap (ShineOn detailing) as he's done quite a few "special" cars including a Veyron, Enzo, oh and Damon Hills 1996 World Champion winning F1 car! I think a really good detail on a car once it arrives is the best thing to do, especially if they use a really good quality wax. It'll make sure that the paint is protected when the winter months hit

Anyway, really looking forward to hearing any more updates you have on the car. It looks absolutely stunning and I'm sure you're going to really enjoy it. I unfortunately have to wait until October, but hey, it's going to be worth it

Quality Denso! Love it! LOL!

@chris: hard to say attention wise as only had it a day and not driven it much - got 54 miles on the clock and 17 were on there from the dealer. On my way home after collecting, there were a few glances from people driving by and another who decided to slow down whilst over taking. I also stopped by the petrol station. As I was waiting at the counter to pay, two guys were walking round the car admiring.

As the weather was pants yesterday, I didn't really go out. However it eased off towards later evening so I went for a spin. As I pulled out of my road I saw two guys point at the car. My car sits in an underground car park so on a
cold start it's loud enough to wake up the dead! Sounds better then I imagined to be honest. If anything the M5 sounds like a bag of spanners on a cold start so happy so far!

In terms of detailing, I'm using Paul @ www.ccs-carcleaningservices.co.uk/
Used him for all my previous cars. From what I know he'll be using paint sealant, multiple coats of wax finished with polish.

And just to touch, I originally had an RS3 on order previously however ended up selling the slot. Now I have this car there are no regrets!

When I picked my AW car up I drove down the road and a car pulled up alongside and the guy was hanging out the window taking photos ! , I was gob smacked as I have had plenty of flash cars in the past but never had this happen !

Car looks great. The more time I spend looking at 1M on this forum, the more i'm itching to get (find) one myself...
