This is kind of hard to determine on Alpine roads ...

The 1M has a speed limiter of 250 kph (real speed via a GPS, not what the speedo will read!). The speedo will surely read much higher than 250 kph. Some have already said they saw 274kph on the speedo.
M GmbH has said there will be NO upping of the speed limiter - as they do for other M cars when you complete a M driving school. For all other M cars they can up the V-max to 280 kph - for a fee/$$$$. I think the 1M will have pretty much the same V-max as a tuned 135i. That would be close to 180 mph (290-ish kph). I have seen 280 kph on my GPS (the speedo stops at 160 mph, but my coded M3 digital speedo continues to work and read true vehicle speed) - and the car was still pulling... I just ran out of clear autobahn at that point. You need a straight autobahn with around 6kms of clear road ahead. Thats kind of hard thing, now a days. |
