BMW did not fill my allocation.

I just got a call from my dealer and BMW will not fill my allocation.

I was the 2nd allocation at my dealer and I'm not getting one. :/

I am depressed.

Drinking imminent.

Very sorry to hear that. What dealer? What else did they say?

Wait, hold on. This was an actual, confirmed allocation and BMW said no? I guess it's BMW's prerogative, but does this mean they're stopping production because of shortages or that the allocation was... reallocated?

Not sure on the details for this, but back in May I was #3 at a dealer and they had filled their first two spots. The CA emailed me early in May to let me know they would not be getting any more 1M's. At first I thought he was just selling my spot to someone willing to pay over MSRP, but maybe they really weren't getting anymore. I immediately went on a country wide search and got an allocation a week later. Good luck with your search.

The answer to the question about whether the allocation was confirmed is key. Either way, BMW is either (1) telling dealers they're not getting any more allocations, or (2) the dealer is hoping to give you back your deposit so IF they get another allocation, they can sell it at a premium. Any more details you can provide would be appreciated, because I'm potentially in the same position - an unconfirmed #2 deposit.

Sorry to hear that but it isn't rare, at my dealer, they were going to get 2 and then the factory only gave them 1. Some people have said that these are not that easy to get and so many others said they were readily available, go figure.

Sorry again, try looking elsewhere in the country, good luck if you are still interested.

Yea, more info please. This is the first I have heard of BMW doing something like this. Was the dealer hopeful of getting a 2nd allocation and it not get it or did they have a confirmed allocation get denied?

Hopefully this is not the start of a trend.....

I highly doubt BMW of Germany would do this, it's more likely the dealer didn't actually have a secured Production slot for your car. Did you ever get a Production Number?

Either this or as was mentioned earlier they decided to sell your spot for a higher price.

Better ask for details from your CA.

My dealer was expecting 5-7 allocations for the year (very large M volume). They only received 2 thus far and now do not estimate more than 1-2 additional. If you want one, hunt; if you come across a car at "near MSRP," seriously consider an offer...there seems to be an element of luck right now.

My dealer told me they had 4 people in line, they only got one car. BMW has not decided to give them anymore. That's it.

Dealer said that he would keep my name on the list in case they get mine, but he said it's probably not going to happen. My dealer said that it appears BMW was not prepared for how popular the 1M became and did not anticipate the volume of orders that actually came in.

Thanks for info, dL. Sounds like you didn't have a confirmed allocation, just an order put in.

Sorry that you live in such a dick area.

I think I used the wrong terminology. I put in a order and my order was not picked up. I did not have an actual allocation.

I was 2nd in line at this dealership which is a high volume BMW dealer in the area. I don't know about M volume.

This makes me sad. I must drink again

Well, you may want to keep the order just in case they get another allocation. Or was the dealer certain that they weren't getting another allocation. If they do and your order is still on record, you'd be the next to go. Unless of course you negotiated at MSRP and they want you to go away, so if they got another allocation they can charge out the ass for it.

I negotiated at MSRP. Zero markup.

I'm really suspicious, how does such a huge dealer like the one I put my order with only get ONE 1M. It makes no sense..

Not much you can do with them for now. They might call you out of the blue if someone backs out or they have a extra one for you. If you really want the car better start calling around. It's still only August you might get lucky.

Simple answer is they are BS'ing you. A large dealer in the SF area should be getting more than 1 car for the year. There are several large dealers in the LA areas that have already received 2 to 3 cars each. Same for a few dealers in TX and AZ and other parts of the Country.

It's likely your dealer is trying to convince you to pull out so they can sell the car for big $$$ over MSRP. I had a deal with the AZ dealer for MSRP only to get a call saying they wouldn't honor the deal, they wanted $5K over MSRP. Since I didn't have a Signed Agreement with them at MSRP there was nothing I could do but Whine about it.

Your situation clearly sucks. If you have a signed Agreement you may be able to negotiate with your dealer's management for an open slot. If not,
