Whether the Petrol will affect the car performance?
I refilled my 330i this morning with Caltex petrol, I feel the power of the car significant drop and even the engine sounds difference (more silent) from B4 - it came with "Shell", the dealer uses Shell.
I called the service center and they said the BMW should fit both Shell and Caltex well .... however I really feel the output difference... Is any expert here can have some explaination on the situtaion? Last edited by Steward Luk; 05-11-2005 at 11:04 PM.. |

I believe your mind is playing tricks on you.
especially beeing in HongKong you have no chance to move the car in any fashion that would make the miniscule differences in performance that different fuels can bring apparent. As a rule of thumb: Differences of less than 15hp on a 250hp car cannot be felt by the driver. The difference different fuels could make is far less than that. IŽll bet in a double blind test (someone filling up your car without knowing with what and you knowing even less), you could never tell one fuel from another. |

I agree with your points... and I will try to convince my self... I don't want to use Shell as the gasoline is supported by my company and my company let me choose Caltex only. Thanks!
