Going on a trip to the dolomites...

Will be there for 2 weeks then spending a few days in venice. Does anyone know the area and have any tips on things to not miss out on. Also whats a fun little car to rent for a couple weeks that will handle the mountain roads nicely.

Thanks guys.

I was just there 3 weeks ago. I don't know all of the area but the Val Gardena area is very pretty. This consists of the cities of Ortesei, Christina and Wolkenstein the first one being the largest. It all depends on what you want to do. There is lots of hiking (our reason for going), good food and amazing scenery. Roads are also good, but you will not be able to rent a BMW (at least out of Munich airport) as BMW and Mercedes are both restricted in Italy due to risk of theft.
