Stop The Presses!!!

HOLY COW!! This is unbelievable! This is a huge advancement in Diesel and N57. The new 35d. Looking at the facts and figures from the new 535d, I can barely contain myself. Here\'s the headlines:
313hp
630NM
0-60 5.7
Co2 142g/km
MPG 52.3
BIK 21%
I\'m sorry, but is so much performance and so little emissions actually possible?! Now imagine this.
The F30 335d. Lighter than the F10. That means a 0-60 possibly around 5.5s, even less Co2, less BIK, and more MPG teamed with more performance. WOW! You gotta have some seriously good reasons to get the 35i...
I think I have found our next least car for next year . Just please please please be released in time and with the 35d! For God\'s sake don\'t stagger the engines like they did the UK X3!!!

I do hope they bring this to the 3-series. I fear they will not. I would buy an F30 in a heartbeat with this.

I wonder what kind of setup. Twin variable vane or one small plus twin scroll?

I would expect Double Vanos, one twin scroll and 1 big turbo higher up the rev range.

That's more power and torque than the existing 40d motors (e.g. X5/X6 40d).

Sad thing is those cars are built in South Carolina but you can't buy 'em in the US.

I'm keeping my 335d until the wheels fall off-- unless I upgrade to a 535d in the future!

Actually, the production schedule has been out a while. It may be 2013 but it is certainly not in the 2012 run according to the paperwork.

All this would be great in the F30, but I would really rather have a 330d touring with a 6MT

Yeah you can't get a 335d Manual because there is too much torque for the gearbox to handle. 6spd MT limit is 560NM. 30d 540<560. 35d 630>560.

Depends on where it's priced, really. A 535d isn't going to be cheap, either, but if it's priced somewhere between an M3 and the new M5, I'd say it snuggles right in there.

It's the next car I'm going to buy.

You have a nice wedge of cash then! The 535d is a little too far on the expensive side for us... Awesome running costs though!!

I know, that's why I want a 330d Touring, or even a 320d. One can wish, no?

550i manual 450 torque. It would have no problem handling less diesel torque.

Now if only diesel prices were down to say $4.05/gal when supreme is $4.20/gal and mid-grade is around $4.07/gal. Wait, it is down to this level where I am.

So now if we only had the N57 in a 3 series.

You guys are getting hosed in the US. Diesel in the Toronto area is a good 5 cents cheaper per litre than regular at most stations.

Using the F10 as an example NOW isn't valid. Also, using the features and specs pages for both the GT and the xGT, neither show a manual transmission as an option.

550i GT: Electronically controlled engine cooling (map cooling) 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes and Adaptive Transmission Control (ATC)

550ix GT: 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes and Adaptive Transmission Control (ATC)
