Removing front seats - airbag danger?

Hi guys,

is there any danger of anything exploding (airbags, seatbelt receptacles, head rests) when removing the front seats?

I need to have a fire extinguisher installed, the shop needs to loosen the front seats, thread some holes, and install the extinguishers. They mentioned the airbags might explode upon seat manipulation - is this true? Is it a real risk?

Thanks.

Yep you'll blow up.

JK... just disconnect the battery to be on the safe side. Airbags can be lethal and the last thing you want is one prematurely firing because of some error. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Disconnect the battery!!!
Otherwise you'll have airbag errors that only a dealer or a coder can reset.
