Questions about installing angel eyes

Hello everyone. Got a couple of question I'm hoping you guys could be able to help me out.

My Driver's side angels eyes went out about two days ago on my Pre-LCI E92, and the light bulb thing came up on the dash I'm guessing because my AE is out. First of all I was already thinking of getting a aftermarket one. But i'm covered under the carmax warranty. So i went over there and they called the BMW dealer right across the street. They usually send BMW over there for warranty work.

The BMW tech said that to replace the AE it would take them about 4-5 hours because they have to do some kind of coding/programming on the car. So I pretty much told them i can't wait here for 5 hours and I would call back later on.

Since I was already thinking of getting me a aftermarket one I'm leaning of just doing it my self. My question is what is this coding they are talking about, I though it was just a simple replace the bulb thing. Also if I replace my AE would it clear that bulb thing popping up in my dash or do I have to do something special?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, they're lying, it takes about 30 minutes, and it's a simple bulb. No coding. Unless the coding they're doing is a software update of some other kind, but if it's directly related to the angel eye bulbs, they're lying. And if you replace your angel eye bulb with the LUX H8 V3's--undeniably the best plug and play solution on the market, available for $245 @ LuxAngelEyes.com--then you won't see an error warning. However, if you get some cheap-o ebay product...I won't make any guarantees.

I have an 07 335i, installed the LUX H8 V3s myself, no coding/error messages, and WOW what a difference.

i just got the lux, installed both in about 30 minutes... and the only reason why it took that long was my fingers are just too damn fat, and had to wait for the wife to get dirty with me 4 to 5 hours is a complete mystery to me..
