Recommended shift knobs for e91
I have a e91 with tan interior and walnut trim. So lot of soft colors. I really don't like the way the shift knob feels (kinda like plastic) and I want something heavier since I've heard it helps with the "notchy" feel of the shifter, which I posted about here (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580979). I also don't want something that looks all "boy racer" since I think my car looks pretty elegant on the inside. I saw a short shift package at BMW and the knob felt awesome, but I can't get a short shift because of my wife.
Any suggestions? I'm considering these, but of course I can't tell the weight of them from the ad. I got an e46 ZHP knob for my e91, but with a plain 6spd insert instead of the ///M insert. Black leather, much shorter, and nicely weighted. Feels great, and they are cheap and widely available. The stock plastic knob is nasty.
I swapped it while my car was still on the turntable at BMW Welt - is that a record for shortest time to first mod? |

I have the ZHP knob on my M3. It looks excellent but doesn't provide that much leverage (granted I have a very stiff short shift kit with a dual rod selector) so it may not be an issue on the 335i.
I run the Active Autowerke's knob on my 335i and it feels great except for when you leave the car in the sun or when you get into a frozen cold car. Practically have to wear gloves to use it sometimes. |

The knob that comes with the ZMP E9X might be a better option.

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up getting this:
BMW Performance Shift Knob http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BMW-Performan...item19c88ca25e I had a chance to try out the short shift kit, with that knob at a BMW dealership. It just felt so good in my hands and the weight is almost 3 times the stock knob. I'll be curious of how out of place it looks, but I think it will be worth the feel of it. Worst case, I may (gasp) make it look like wood with some vinyl. But I'm going to think long and hard before doing something like that. |
