CDV Just Installed Today

So since I've joined this forum I've always seen it that people do the CDV delete or replace it w/ a modified one. I just did the latter and geeez......IT IS A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. The part is $38 (shipped) from Zeckhausen and the install is between $50 to $70 depending on where you have it done.

After "grinding" into 2nd gear 3 times , I pretty much had enough of it. Not to mention the "jerks" when shifting. Now its as smooth as you can shift. Again....Auto Talent/Technik in Marina Del Rey, CA doing a phenomenal job.

I am now officially a "shift happier" person.

Wow, you PAID to have this done? It took me 15 minutes to do it by myself on a drive on ramp. Seriously to those out there considering this, DONT pay someone. Do it yourself, save the money, and start learning about how your car works.

Lastly, I find that it grinds more now going into 2nd. I dont know why but it seems the synchros on this car suckass. It just doesnt like to be shifted fast.

CONGRATS!
I just did mine yesterday as well! WOW what a difference! Got the part from Zeckhausen as well. Guys its a cheap part, $35 plus shipping. I had a local BMW shop here do the work while they were also installing the Grouppe M intake, Dinan exhaust a the strut tower brace.
It's lie a new clutch has been installed.

It's really not that hard to do. I did a CDV delete in my M3 and it was cake. Just get a small C clamp and crimp the line before you take it off. Once you delete it or replace it then lossen the clamp and blede the line a couple times and you're done.

Ive noticed a lot of posts about this subject... ive found it easier to shift fast without the CDV. Especially if I keep my RPMS up and dont let off that much the 1-2 shift is fine (besides the WAY too long throw).

Since I put on the shorter OEM knob last week the shifting pleasure has increased 10fold(in addition to the CDV mod). The feeling of the actual gates is better and motion of the shifter has proven short enough that I dont need an actual "short shift kit".

Food for thought.

I already bought the shorter all leather shift knob because I know I'm going to hate the OEM one.
Did you get the all leather one or the short leather/aluminum?

All leather. I have a Ti Cavalino knob in my M3 and my hand slips on that all the time if its sweaty. I knew the leather would give me much better grip. Actually, maybe Ill swap them and see how that goes. Hmm.

I have all these things sitting around in my living room just waiting to get installed.
I was telling my wife to take the baby to the sitter because I'm going to take a day off work just to install all of my mods the day after I get my car, including the CDV.
I know how much of a difference the delete makes.

+1 on the modified CDV. I just had it done yesterday and love it; the difference is not subtle.

I'm just ticked that I've been shifting through that crap OEM CDV for two years!!!!

How much time would the modified CDV save in the 1/4 mile..I just orderd mine and it's being shipped out tomorrow. Just wondering how many milliseconds it would knock off my time??
