ACS vs RD springs

Any preference between ACS springs and RD springs?
For a 5335 X drive

Thanks!

Hey Danwich

I am also in Chicago!! I and another guy have the H&R. There is on person going to install ACS.
Personally, I think H&R is the best option for spring. It lowers the most and is the cheapest.

H&Rs ride really bad with adaptive drive on my 550 -- changed to RDs and the problem was solved -- they are almost as low as H&Rs -- a little too low for me.

I dont have an XI or RD. I do have ACS and very pleased with them. Because of the precision emphasis ACS seems to place on their R&D over cosmetic I felt the ACS purchase was best. If you value cosmetic over performance then let the tailpipe scrape!

I didn't think the H&R made springs specifically for the X drive, although I did see the post about someone using them anyway. TH RD are twice the price of the ACS.
Where in Chicago is the best place for an install?

Are these only available through CEC? Or do other dealers sell them? If so, who has the best deal?

I had my installed at X Project in Glenview. The owner Eli is nice and he has done a few F10 springs already. So he will know the best and fastest way to install them. He charged me $330 and I was the first F10 he did. Took a little over 4 hours.

I also heard IND in Palatine can do a good job and charge a fairly good price.

So depends on which one you are closer to.

Other dealers sell them, but ACS pricing is very consistent from what I found. I ended up getting mine from CEC since they were back ordered at the time.

How about Fall Line in Buffalo Grove? Any experience with them?

I have heard of them. They are BMW tuner. Not sure how much they will charge. But for lowering spring/coilover, you don't really need to go to a BMW specific tuner. They may charge a lot.

I have heard someone quoting $800 to do coilover because they are BMW specialist. totally unneccessary.

They will do the Dinan Stage 2 next week on my car so I will ask them how much they would charge to install ACS springs.

I have Dinan stage 1 now so I am interested to see how stage 2 feels.

Dinan stage 1 is good but it hits later than I would like. I understand stage 2 fixes this and the extra boost comes on sooner. For those that don't have stage 1 you can go straight to stage 2.

Spacers help the look and stance of the car and no rubbing so far. Now it just needs be lowered on ACS springs!

I've got 12mm on the front and 15mm on the back but my car is an X drive so rears tires are only 245's. If your car is not X drive your rears must be 275's so they are already 30mm wider than mine. I'm not sure what the max size of rear spacer is for you - sorry. Someone on this forum must have already tried this and should know.
