BMW 335i (N55) Performance Edition And Retrofit Kit Driving impression
So lets make this a thread about driving impressions from those that have test driven or actually have a car with this tune onboard.
Please lets not discuss the price and what dealers are charging. There are at least 2 threads that have more than enough info regarding price. I hope to drive one tomorrow or Saturday time permitting. I have ordered a car with the ZMZ pack and should receive it the second half of October. I'm basically hoping for the elimination of Lag and a bit more low end grunt. I had a 2007 335 coupe and loved how the N54 felt like a normally aspirated motor, until they updated the software durning an oil change. Then it became less torquey and had a bit more lag but nothing like todays N54 and N55's To compensate, I installed a Procede and loved it, but my car was a lemon and pulling the system off constantly was just too much. After they lemond the car I got an M3. Now the lease is over and low end torque is calling my name but this time I would like to keep the car stock (Diesel fans I did consider the car but its just too extreme of a jump for me coming out of the M3). So lets hear from those that have experience with this tune. This thread should grow rapidly in the next few weeks with those that are receiving there cars and those that are getting the retrofit. Performance Edition content
Today I was at nick Alexander and drove a ZMZ (performance edition) 335i sedan!!!
Pics of what is actually part of the package to follow shortly Under hood badge Black performance grills Trunk lid badge I'll try and write up something shortly when I can drive a 335i with and without performance edition Initial reaction is very nice upgrade. More power all around and a nice push in the back especially between 3-5k rpm. No it's not a procede but it's nice, very nice. I'll confirm tomorrow, but my initial reaction is this is well worth the $699.00 Jason my SA is offering the retrofit. A must do if your ordering a new car. The retrofits don't get the trunk badge but the cars from the factory with the package ZMZ do. I'll be taking mine off and sticking it on the inside of the glove box door.

just drove back to my office after getting the power kit installed. My first impressions are that I definitely feel the added torque at the low end and turbo lag is virtually eliminated. Getting onto the highway, I felt a real difference in the quickness of accelerating from 30 mph to 85. really happy with the upgrade, especially at a good price from my dealer ($710 parts/labor/tax)

Hi everyone, new member here. I purchased my E90 3 weeks ago and installed PPK1 yesterday. I must say IMHO the kit is worth it. Like others have mention quicker acceleration, torquey and love the exhaust note. BTW got the kit with 20% discount at my local dealer.

I love my car so much. It is so strange how much more I love my 335 the second I started driving it compared to my 2011 M3. I just did not love the M3. And I love the 335. It has all the power I need whenever and wherever I need it.
With the Performance Edition, Black Grill, Black Mirror Covers, and Performance Exhaust, for all I am concerned, I made myself my own 335is Sedan!

Ok just dropped my 2011 335i e90 M sport at a local dealer. Getting ppk installed as we speak. I will post driving review later today once I pick up. I'm excited. It's an n55 so the exhaust note should make a difference compared to the n54's w ppk.(from what I've read) I took a video of it all stock last night and will make a video with ppk to tonight. I'm new to posting on here so it may be a challenge for me to upload vids. I'll try my best.

My car came with it and compared to the car I test drove that didnt have the performance edition it was night and day. I am still going to get Dinnan stage 2 when its available. I took the rear badge off, its so cheap and I put it inside the glove box. The black grills are a nice touch, very little turbo lag and pretty good pick up. I still find the car a bit slow 0 to 40.

Your killing me!!!!! It's all I can do to hang on these final days. I too had an M3. Mine was a 2008 DCT coupe. I loved it so much. I know I'll miss the explosive shifts. But this is all part of having a child. Now a sedan makes more sense.
I think or hope that the low end torque on these performance editions will help blur the memories of my M. I didn't get the exhaust but ordered tips. The mirror covers might be nice. Post a few pics of your car. So we can check out it out. |
