Advice Help! AR Design Catless Downpipe Install + Stock Exhaust

Hey Guys,

So i just dropped my car off at a local indy exhaust shop whose very experienced with european cars like BMW and Audi, and i just got a call from them that its gonna take 3 hours to install at minimum, while charges should be somewhere around the $300 + mark.

Is that what you guys paid as well? I told them to just drop the subframe, and it should be easy from there, but they said they just wanted to warn me. This is the first N55 car they are doing btw. Not to mention that its not near a train station, and i have to pay another $90 in cab fares!

I wasn't expecting it to cost this much! Its basically the price of the charge pipe!

That sounds about average for install time, especially if it is the shops first install.

Glad to hear that you enjoy the new sound!

Thanks Chris, you should know that the shop i went to handled alot of DP installs for the N54 and many other makes and models, but they wanted to know where i got your DP from because they said its one of the best they have seen thus far in terms of build quality and designs. for a great product!

Yeah that labor quote sounds about average. Typically anywhere between $200-$300 would make me happy if it was my car

to add to this, do you get better gains with the DPs on stock exhaust or stock DPs with a cat-back exhaust system ...

Catless downpipes offer far greater gains.

i know its a bit hard for anyone to gauge, any idea of the kind of gains we talking .. in terms of WHP?
stock exhaust , CAI ...nothing else yet.
everyone says get the jb4 or cobb for better gains first but, im not very comfortable with the ECU Tunes that are out...hopefully cobb makes some big improvements because i really like what they are doing.
, doing DPs, FMIC, full exhaust, before i do any ECU tunes,

im purchasing my DPs from Alan @ **********s 2mrrw! cant wait

Why would you not be comfortable with the tunes available? These guys are pro's & know what they are doing otherwise these tunes would never be on the market because of too many failures. Have more faith brotheren.
