Pick up, break-in and on track. Advice?

Hi,

I am going to get my 1M @ PCD on 10/27. Then plan to drive to BRP, tail of dragon and back to Philly, PA on 10/29. I think I will have 1000-1200 miles on it already.

These is a NASA HPDE on 10/30 at NJ motorpark.

My question is :

1) Should I track my car just after 1200 miles?
2) Anything that I should worry about tracking my car just after 1200 miles?
3) If I want to track on 10/30, should I do the 1200 mile service before the track or after the track?

Thanks.

Is this your first HPDE? Half of the day is typically spent at low speed and understanding vehicle dynamics. You will not be running flat out until at best the later laps of in the day. You should be fine.

Personally, I would run the 1200 miles and first service, before taking it to the track. Just my opinion and no other reason. Not being able to squeeze one track day in is not gonna kill me, especially with your short timeline. Plus, I'd want to swap out the brake fluid for Motul RBF600...another personal preference.

Then I concur with Mike. You already know the fundamentals it will be more about getting accustomed to this car. It will be nice to have the piece of mind that you're mostly broken in and on fresh fluids prior to pushing the car at the track.

i was on track @ 900miles. I took things easy then, shifting around 5500rpm and just learning the car's characteristics.

If you can get the service done before, great, if not, then do it after. I just wouldnt rev it till redline at the track till the service is done.

I concur with Franklin. I was ripping mine pretty good at lightning right after the 1200 mile service.
