Another DP question

OK, I'm saving up for a DP around xmas. I think I know which one I'm going to get (AR probably because I've heard nothing bad about them and they are local and can install it for me) but I have a few questions.

Do I get the full benifit of the DP if I use the stock exhaust?
How much louder is it with a DP for just regular driving?

I just enabled that CANflap open option on the JB and it's noticibly louder. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to live with it being too much louder. I certainly don't want any droning.

What should my next mod be on this thing after the DP? I want to max out power first then move on to suspension and wheels.

You have an xi and i do believe that xi's have an extra set of cats in the exhaust, not sure if they have determined if they are cats or resonators. Under normal driving the sound will be the same, its not until you let her rip that you will notice an increase of sound.

Don't forget you have the second set of cats in the mid-pipes. If you want FULL BENEFIT you gotta ditch the mid cats. I did it and it sounds really good!
I would wait to see what it sounds like with DP before doing exhaust. Even with exhaust, catless DP and Mid-Cats gone I do not get any drone.

I recently replaced my oem downpipes with macht schnell kitty less downpipes and it is louder. I personally like the sound and its not too loud for my taste. But my wife thinks it sounds like crap. Its especially loud when its warming up. Its not that much louder once its warmed up and driving. The rest of my exhaust is stock and I think it sounds perfect how it is now. I don't think I will upgrade the rest of the exhaust system either.

You should definitely sit in a ride that has downpipes installed first. It might just be too loud for you.

I thought you get the full benefit of downpipes by just replacing them but I could be wrong. I noticed a significant change in throttle response.

I did my performance upgrades in the following order and my car feels like a whole different animal now.
1) JB4
2) DCI
3)Meth
4)Downpipes
next mod will probably be an fmic and then if funds permit lsd.

Good luck.

DP, FMIC, meth. Come by the shop and take a look at a downpipe in person!

Definetly swing by ar design shop since you are local to them. Andrew will take care of you and answer all your questions!

The JB4 has the same system like the CanTool. If you need to pass a sniffer test, then what kind of o2 sims you use is not important.

Are you referring to the OBD diagnostic test?
