Noob to tuning - advice sought please

Hey guys, I was looking around the performance forums and I can't seem to get enough info to make a decision about the best route for me.
I have a 2011 335i vert A/T with M Sport that I am leasing.

Given that it is A/T (wife needs todrive it, had an 08 335xi cpe 6MT she hated it b/c of manual tranny) and a convertible, clearly I am not looking to track or get kick ass performance.

I am looking for an easy to install (prefer flash and not plug and play) tune. I will not be getting any aftermarket DP, Intake, BOV, meth, etc, just want to push the turbos a bit and get smoe more power. Goal is 0 to 60 time in 4.7 or 4.8 if I can. ultimate HP and torque numbers is not the goal, going faster is. is there a product that will do this?

i am looking at the BMW performance kit thing for $600 + install labor, will this get me there? does COBB have a accessport for the N55?

I need to be able to uninstall easily if I have to take car in for service, and prefer to not have a turbo blow up b/c of too much boost.

thanks for any advice in advance.

I'm personally waiting for Cobb... they said after the holidays when I checked last. I'm a leaser too, so it's hard to wait since I may not have the car for very long.

The BMW PPK is a pretty good deal if you can get the labor (programming charge) cheap. A fellow 135i owner told me it feels just as fast as the Dinan Stage 1, and it's a helluva lot cheaper. I do suspect that the Cobb AP will have 2-3x the gains though... the BMW one is really conservative.

tough call, BMW looks good, pretty cheap, and warranty to boot (can be priceless), and the COBB has been in the "being developed" bucket for a LONG time.

Will the PPK get me where I want in terms of speed, in your opinion? thx

The issue with running more than stock boost is the charge pipe, it can crack.

BMW PPK is the safest bet but the gain is small. You will notice it though.

Otherwise I suggest a BMS JB4 Stage 2. Smooth power delivery, many maps are available, and the install is not that difficult.

There is also the BMS Stage1 for 379.00. Cheap, great power with a SUPER easy plug and play install.

ok, assuming I go with the N55 JB4 stage 2, what happens when the car goes to the dealership? Just uninstall and set codes to map 0?

there are a few dealerships near me, if one of them "catches" me, does it get reported to corporate or can I simply go to another dealership when I get the codes fixed?

If you are uninstalling then just clear the codes and remove.

The other option is to clear the codes, set to map0 and leave it in the car. On map0 its diagnostically invisible so BMW can't detect it with their scans, but obviously if they are looking for it they can see it.

CAN tool?

I am a leaser as well, do i need to opt for the can tool as well to be able to erase codes so the dealer doesn't see that I'm messing around with tunes?

CanTool is only necessary for stage1, as the stage1 has no code clearing options. If you have or plan on getting the stage2 then you don't need the can tool as it has all the features of the can tool built in.
